Home depot in Mansfield has fireside ultra and green supreme Appalachian blend....taunton tractor supply had main wood pellets and local agway had awf ultra white pine bags only
No not yet I think I'm gonna burn them this weekend and see if I like them been burning vermonts and lgs all week ,just been on the fence about trying them with the way the weather has been
Well me and my better half took advantage of the weather and took a ride to New Hampshire for some tax free shopping and some lunch and got home a little while ago so I gave the stove a good cleaning and loaded the hopper with them Appalachian pellets, pellets had some dust and nice sheen to them, it's a good compressed pellet too...but the house is 70 degrees right now so I'll fire them up in a bit
Well....it's 1:30 am and got up and checked the stove....kind of shocked house was nice and toasty the stove was burning good ,24 degrees outside and 74 degrees upstairs in the living area...yeah I'm probably going to get 10 more bags for the stash which is probably around 80 % softies as the only hardwood I burn are cubex and tsc mwp and geneva's and these Appalachian green supreme burn for me better than the tsc offerings...did I just say that ...well I'll be burning them next couple of days to see if my early results are consistent and a better idea on the ash level
Got up again at 1am the house was toasty 76 degrees in the living area 30 degrees outside...I'm going to call these the twilight zone pellets as I am getting very good results from a brand I swore I would never burn again, acceptable ash level also glass had a light haze on it but no black soot stain I turned the stove down to low also...so my question is anyone else burning these Appalachian blend and if so what are your results? And my second question is what pellet brands was this plant producing in the past
After seeing this thread I decided to see what the local Lowes had. Up here they're the Northeast Blend. Bought 3 bags to try at $4.98 each as I need pellets. Pellets are similar in appearance as MWP, not a lot of fines. I was surprised to see the bags state the ash level as .4-.6%. Usually they all say <1% unless they are high quality softies. The biggest surprise was when I checked out. The girl at the register gave me the 10% veterans discount, so I paid $4.67/bag. I didn't think Lowes gave the discount on pellets anymore. Anyway, these won't hit the stove until tomorrow. I may be able to give an update tomorrow evening.
Just picked up 10 bags of GS, these say blue ridge blend, probably try them through the upcoming cold snap.
I was driving through Mansfield today and picked up a couple to try. Pellets are in the small side. 1/2” to 3/4” tops
Corkman share your thoughts on these pellets when you can so I can get out of the twilight zone these pellets have put me in
Not much good to say about the Northeastern Blend. The heat is fine but the ash is high. I got home from work and it was falling off of the front of the burn pot. It's been a long time since I've had pellets with this much ash.
I will for sure. Probably won’t be for a few days as I have some okanagan Doug fir in the stove right now with this cold snap fir the next few days
Sounds good ....yeah I'm going to clean the stove after work today then back to some softies Vermont's or some awf white pine for the next few days
