I’ve often wondered how many members we have here in CT. It’s such a small state, but I know it’s not only me here. I occasionally see other members who are located here.

I’m in central CT, just south of Hartford, in Newington. I burn about 5 cord a year that comes from scrounging. At any given time I’ll have between 10-15 cord in the yard. I have two Husky saws I cut with; a 350 and a 359. I split with a Speeco SpeedPro kinetic splitter that I picked up used a few years ago. And I’ve got a little stoutly built 4x6 trailer that my neighbor was generous enough to gift to me more a case of Budweiser.

    So who else is here?

I’m up in West Hartland. I burn about 4 cords in a Woodstock soapstone , and use an antique kitchen stove with an oven to heat my garage, and have fun with it.

Yes; another response! I went to high school with Hartland kids when they used to go to Gilbert in Winsted (over 20 years ago).

Some still do. My son went to Northwestern Regional and played football with the Gilbert guys - combined school team. You must be from the area?

Grew up in Winsted. Graduated in 97. Many cousins went to Regional. Gilbert still had a stand-alone football team when I went through, but I think it was combined when my younger brothers and sisters attended.

Hartland is a nice place to be if you like to hunt and fish. Winsted is the big city for us, but I always liked it and still do. What do you do in Newington?

I’m a teacher in New Britain. Wife grew up here in town. Seemed like a nice place to raise a family. Now that I’ve been here for 15 years sometimes I wish I was in a more rural area. 15 cords of wood on my less than half acre lot sort of sticks out! And I wish my kids had real “woods” to play in like I did when I was a kid.

I understand. I had a quarter acre in Wallingford when we first married, and half of it was a woodpile and the rest was a vegetable garden. After we moved to Hartland I worked at Pratt for 32 years , so although I love living in the woods the commute was sort of expensive.
Bring the kids out to some state forest once in a while. Let’m go nuts!
