    About 18" snow total
Really humped through the wood the last couple days.
Filled the wood room Saturday morning and noticed a lot of Hickory and oak in the mix.
Our move out of this place to my parents homestead down the road is finally going to be a reality in the spring . Been burning down my stash here for the last 2-3 years so I don't have to move it. I think I'll have about 2 cord left.

It is amazing to me how the media has sort of brainwashed so many; even here on the forum. When I was growing up, the news and weather people just told it like it was and did not try to sensationalize everything. I remember when the weather service started this crazy wind chill factor thing. What the H? Everyone knew it felt much colder out in the wind but the seemed to think we needed to be told about it. Now it seems to be the norm. Make it sound as bad as you can...

I also remember talking to more than one person about anti-freeze. Even though we have never seen -30 in this area where I live now, people were thinking that with the wind chill going down the road fast the radiator would freeze so they had to protect down to -50 or -60. No... the temperature might only be 0 and no matter what the wind chill is, the temperature is still at 0.

    Okay, rant over.

Too many people have let their lives become boring. Or they always have been. And they like to create drama. It doesn’t help that many have now grown up watching too much TV. Where Hollywood makes everything look more dramatic and glamorizes violence to try to get more attention so they make more money. Enough is never enough when it comes to money for some. Just look at some of the things they make into movies and TV shows. Have you ever looked and thought about what these people are choosing to make money off of. Just makes you sick.

    Sorry about the rant.

Oh, forgot to post why I was here... Woke up at 0530 it was 13º out. Grandma Fisher had some hot coals left in her from 1030 pm last night when sack time. Were at a whopping 17º now and I think we hit the high for the day. Got my last few big cherry splits and some maple burning now, it's a balmy 82º in here. :fire:

That works fine for the fluid contained in the radiator.... not so well for the fluid we spray on our windshields.... only bring this up as my windshield washer reservoir is currently leaking, the fluid is rated at -20 and the coldest it has gotten here is 0... I’m wondering if some of the alcohol in the fluid has evaporated.

    http://www.comolube.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/FAQ-Washer-Fluid-Freezing-on-Windshield.pdf

Your windshield can get colder than the temperature outside, but only after you’ve sprayed on washer fluid.
Washer fluid is a mix of methyl alcohol, also known as methanol, and water. The alcohol keeps it from freezing (and bursting) in your car’s washer fluid reservoir and lines.
But once that wiper fluid is exposed to air on your windshield, the alcohol starts evaporating, leaving behind water. That remaining water is what freezes on your windshield.
And that evaporation can make your windshield, and the washer fluid, colder than it is outside, says Janet Elliott, University of Alberta chemical engineering professor and Canada Research Chair in Thermodynamics.

Dave, I just made a quick trip to town. Temperature is at 6 and that no doubt will be our high for the day. At least the sun is shinning.

Good thing water doesn't evaporate at speed, eh ?

It might leave salts and dirt behind to make seeing out of the windshields difficult.
