Went outside tonight to check out the lunar eclipse. It was cool. My wife and I have always enjoyed the wonderous shows put on by nature.
It was too cold for me to bother. Pretty sure my wife went put and checked it after I went to bed because if.you.dont push my door shut, it will latch but not fully, letting a 3F draft in all night.
It was very cold here as well. We were able to just step out on our porch for nature's show last night and it was -4 at that time. This morning it was -17 when I got up and fired the stove. It is 10:00 now and still -8. The furnace has been running some this morning, but the stove is doing the most of the heating. The sun is out and it looks beautiful outside, but it is brutal out there. The stove flu temp is 600 or so and the air tubes are glowing nicely two hours after loading. It probably has another 1-1/2 hours of high output left, then I'll need to reload again after opening up the damper to burn down some coals. The furnace is not running now, but will kick in if the house temp drops below 71 (we like it warm in here). When it kicks on I need to go load for sure. When it's this cold we're right on the edge of being able to heat with just the wood stove.
I forgot about an eclipse. But that moon surely was bright; about the brightest night I've ever seen.
