For some, 8 degrees is pleasantly warm. I on the other hand do not want to go out and play right now.

Looks like he is comfy. I've had a couple of husky mixes and a Samoyed mix - they all loved to lay on top of the doghouse until it was below zero.

Floyd in the snow yesterday morning. His first trip he spazed out trying to kill it all.

Little later I shoveled the deck so he wouldn't track in the snow. He doesn't seem to mind if I have wet socks.

Here is our black lab baby, Annie in the back of my old pickup. This picture was taken a few years prior to her passing. She was born with detached retinas and was blind, as well as skeletal dysplasia. She had one eye removed due to glaucoma.

She died last summer in the truck on her way to her favorite place, the cabin, at age 13.5. We knew the end was near and it would be her hast trip up there.

An hour out from Duluth my wife noticed her breathing becoming labored. We pulled over on a secluded dirt road and both held her in the back seat of our Suburban as she breathed her last. In tears we covered her with a towel, picked some wildflowers, and placed them on her. At the cabin I buried her and her flowers next to our other dog Shayna. Brings a tear to my eye now. I love seeing this thread with everyone's special friends.

Sorry for your loss hovlandhomestead . Our furry friends take such a big piece of our hearts when it is time for them to go.

Bless you for taking on a pup with such difficulties to overcome - that in itself explains how well loved she was.

Thanks bogieb. She was loved by a lot of people who knew her, and she loved everyone back. She was so happy and fearless, smart too, but had to be on a leash for walks because as far as she was concerned we would always keep her away from any danger, and we did, and she loved to run as best she could. She never wanted to leave our side. She was going to replace my old hunting dog, but we soon realized she was blind after getting her home. The breeder felt so bad and offered to take her back and give us another dog. When I told him we had already decided to keep her, he offered to pay all her vet and specialty care bills, which was a nice gesture, but as far as we were concerned unnecessary.

Whew, I forgot what it's like to have a puppy! Peaches is different from the gun dogs I've raised. Funny!! She lost a bottom canine tooth tonight. She came running out of the second bathroom as fast a furious as she could with a new roll of TP she stole -all proud- and woopsie, dropped it while trying to show off in front of kiddo and Blondie laying on the couch. It had teeth marks on it, two top canine on the side and two bottom canine tooth on the spool end, and evidence where that tooth came out:rofl: .
