image.jpg image.jpg Temps have warmed up but the wind picked up too, so we're no further ahead. Poplar same as always.

9 feels like -7 with the wind howling and about 6” on the ground and snowing hard. Wind chill will stay below zero through Tuesday they’re saying, yet it’s going to mix with sleet later this morning.:hair: Still saying 12-18” though so it’s gonna be a BIG mess. Should be fun out on the tractor too. I’ll be donning the Eskimo gear for sure. I was thinking about going out before the sleet starts but I might just wait. I don’t want to clean it up then just be left with a layer of ice. Ice cleans up a lot easier with snow under it. I’m sure that the Kubota can handle it but I don’t know about me!

5 here 75 inside. Burning coals down with a couple small splits of poplar. Going to load with red oak. At least the guessers were right about the temps

16° here, and the snow just turned to sleet. Overnight we only got about 4" of snow. We're going to watch the temps carefully and pick our moment to clear off the driveway, so as to get the max before the flash freeze (expected about 1P).
Burning red maple now, but ready to switch to red oak and black locust as needed.

No snow here, we are way north of all that mess but darn cold at -6. Still 70 inside on the upstairs stat. Went down to open the air on the IS and found a large amount of coals still. Must have turned the air down or closed the damper a touch too far. No big dealn be burned down in a half hour and loaded back up to combat the whopping 8 for a high today!
Gonna be working on the inside chores today staying toasty warm!:fire::D

We are at -6f now, but little if any wind. Keeping the old hearth going this morning. Just watching the fire and enjoying FHC and coffee. Burning our typical mix of soft and hard woods for the fireplace. The current batch now is 3 year seasoned poplar, balsam, birch and sugar maple from our woods up north. I am on the second burn since waking up at 4 am.

The lab pups slept through the night and I got up at 6:30 and took them out 1 at a time to about 4" of new snow. I then let the 2 beagles out and reloaded the shop stove with walnut and sugar it was 46 there with barely enough coals to restart. I had a good bed of coals and reloaded the family room stove with sugar. 20190120_070103.jpg

Wow just looked at the forecast:
    Screenshot_20190120-061050.png
Going to make a dent in the old woodpile this week after a very unseasonably warm November, December, and first half of January. By my rough calculations we have a little over 2 cord left (plenty in reserve at my parents place) of the approx 4 we moved over to our place that we started with way back in October. Furnace has only ran a hand full of times. A bit while we were out of town and a couple mornings were it was plenty warm/too warm to reload the night before.

16f with wind chill at -6 just engaged the cat on a load of red oak and a split of black locust. 71 inside. Just finished my second coffee. Time to get the insulated gear on and blow some white stuff. Stay safe and warm and any of you hoarders facing ice, hope for the power to stay on and be extra careful.

-10 here and still snowing. I haven’t been outside yet to get an idea of how much we have received. I was up at 4:30 am so I loaded the boiler then with a mix of Cherry, Maple, and some small Ash splits.

Hope everyone out east is OK and managing well.

I just went out and shoveled a little on the steps front and back and set the timer on the tractor block heater to come back on from 2-5. We have 8” so far and it’s all sleet coming down now. At least it’s not sticking to the trees like freezing rain, but it’s like walking on marbles. I’ll clean up after it’s over this evening. I don’t think our accumulation should be much over a foot unless it changes back to snow which is unlikely. The temperature is still dropping. It’s 6 but feels like -11. 76 inside on a load of KD, mostly oak. Nasty day! Home is the place to be. Thank the good lord we all have a cozy wood fire to keep us warm in times like these. Peace be with you on this Sunday.

27* out 72* in. Got about 6-7" of snow with some ice on top. Wind started picking up at about 930 am. Temps are supposed to plummet today. Got some oak in the on deck circle when time.

Still sleeting little ice pellets, thankfully nothing sticking to the branches. I'm watching the neighbor a couple doors down lying on his back in his driveway, poking at the snowblower auger trying to clear it. This has been going on for awhile.

My husband thinks he broke the belt, he's going over to see if he can help.
