Just 20 minutes since my last post and now it's really coming down. Maybe we will see 1"-3" per hour. :faint::)

Looks like they are saying we have about 8" on the ground, with another 2-3" coming today ("lake effect snow" from Lake Erie)

I would think that temps above freezing would promote the “block all the way through”. If the temps stay below freezing with the rain coming down and it’s accumulating on the trees, then the crust should stay on top. But yes, worth monitoring as heavy rains or temps above freezing could turn everything to slush and with the upcoming freeze, could make things more difficult to remove than if it is taken care of as it comes down... high is supposed to be 26 here. If it goes much above 30, I might change my strategy.

Tell me why I don’t have a wood fired boiler and a heated driveway?

Thats unreal. Some of the sustained wind speeds over at Mt. Washington are truly impressive.

Mwalsh9152 I'm sure know but for everyone else..
At 30 degrees a # salt melts 35# of ice.
At 10 degrees its down to 5#..
At 0 ice and snow is not really slippery

I am curious where the sound is coming from. I'm thinking franconia notch, but maybe crawford?? The winds can get up to 90mph at times on 93 between cannon and the route 3 exit north. I think that's where it's coming from.

Sounds like a good place for the winds to be in the notches.

All I hear is 4 snowblowers from the neighbors.

I've switched to Weather Nation on Pluto TV, channel 150. Although, I admit to finding a TWC stream and watched for laughs on how they were spinning their hype. "It's a complicated storm" was their go to phrase. Oh yeah, "flash freeze" was another.

There are some lake effect flurries in the air, but nothing significant in the very N.E. corner of Ohio. Lake effect is usually what bites us. They call for 3-4" and we get 2' if a band get parked on top of us. At least there are three current forecasters on different Cleveland channels from Ashtabula county who under stand this. Matt Wintz, A.J. Colby and Mark Johnson are all from here.

Currently 10” on the ground, sleeting, and 15 degrees. I love how quiet the state highway here is on aSunday morning, and all this snow makes it even nicer. A lot of skiers passed up through Friday and yesterday for the long weekend and best natural snow of the season.
