I am back. 2018 was kind of a crazy year work wise. Ended up working 1200 hours of overtime through the year. Fell way behind on my wood cutting. 10-15, twelve hour days in a row all year long makes this 54 year old a dull boy, LOL! Power company was clearing lines in November and took my neighbors standing dead ash down. Good news is only about 100 feet from where the splitting pile is. Doesn't get much better than that. They dropped it and I cut it up, Felt good to be on the saw again.
The nice thing, its close to the pile, it must be close to home, take your time, enjoy the sawing/splitting, stacking. I get bored fast after i get my wood home, then i split, stack, and start getting some big pieces just to cut on when every thing else is done. Come to think of it, i should start checking on wood permits right now, i'm getting bored again.
Nice work! Ash is great firewood. Close neighbor ash is even better! I need to get back to splitting the rest of my downed yard ash. That will happen on Sunday am.

While retirement isn’t worth the wait, it sure is good. I was always thankful to have a wood pile to work off the stress, and it’s even better not being pressed for time. Sadly, I still have memories of working those long hours and the longest hours just happened to be when I was in management... So it goes. It is good you are getting that ash and it looks to be a great size to add up fast. Congratulations. Oh, yes, retirement is worth it!!!!
Sweet. I had one ash at 34" here. All the rest were smaller. But I still cut that 34" ash with a 16" bar. All went well as I figured it would.
Many of us are in the same OT boat. Worked a second job worth as well. I am on retirement count down 7/7/28 and I pop smoke.
Memories of this past spring Iceman. Told my neighbor if he had them dropped I would come buck em and drag the brush to the road where the Township comes with their chipper. After work, on the weekends, seven trees and a month later I finally got it done. Had to take a bunch to my buddies farm to sell, ran out of room to keep it. O the trials and tribulations of a hoarder with a full time job. Once you get that premium firewood split and stacked I hope your as thankful as this 58 year old is. 1200 hours wow
Sorry Ralphie, that was many moons ago; before I started taking camera with me....sometimes. Most times I just plain forget to take it and no, I usually don't have my cell phone with me. Most times couldn't hear it if it rings. The old phone could not even get a connection but this new one seems to do good most of the time. Just don't take it with me very often.
I know very primitive but I had a nice older cannon just sitting around. Because it was a gift from my father in law who helped me develop a love for trees and firewood. They owned a Christmas tree farm, he bought me my first chainsaw. Worked me like a rented mule he did. So the camera is only for hoarding related stuff. So thankful I had someone from the greatest generation in my life. By the way I do own one of them there stupid smart phones.
