Colder here. What's your temp? What ya burnin?

Sitting at -11 right now. The skies are not quite clear which is good for "not so cold as it could be" temps.

 

27 here, burning down sugar maple coals. The snow has started, starting out they said 12-18”. Then 2-4” now 6-8!! Lol. We will know for sure by the end of the day!

Ended up with a dusting of snow here in NW suburbs. Just 10-20 mile south of here 1-3". Heard of around a foot down around Avoca in SW MN.

-1f now with -18 wind chill, dropping a few more degrees by 8AM. By then I will be ensconced in the warmth of the spear shack.

Now on second load of mixed soft and hardwoods in the old hearth. The masonry held some warmth overnight for us from yesterday's fires.

 

26* out 69* in. Burning down some coals to try and clean out some ash before the temps plummet tomorrow night. Gonna try to get the rest of the elm I got last week split and stacked. Also need to bring in some of the oak I bought last summer to prepare for the temp drop.

 

Woke up to 70* inside and about 30* outside. Burning pine and a little maple.

What gives? The temp dropped another 6!

Sitting at -17f now! Not too shabby for one hours time.

 

We are 34* and raining. It’s suppose to switch to ice and then snow. Time will tell I suppose. In the meantime I have a stack of hackberry on the hearth and inside temps are 72*.

 

9 headed for 19, 75 inside on coals. Still waiting for the big one. Forecast going back and forth about sleet on top of the snow. Still talking 18-24” and I hope we’re on the dry side but somehow I doubt it. It’s just the way this winter has gone so far. Supposed to start here 7-8 pm and go through Monday morning. We’ll know what we’re gonna get by then lol.

 

-10 earlier this morning. Pine in the boiler right now. Time to bring some more hardwood in! Slowly warming up.

 

25F and a load of ash is cooking ne out of the house. Hiding in the dining room next to the slider that's cracked open.

 

Happyily suprised it above zero this morning, was supposed to be-10. Looks like it will move in later. Happy to break 6 hours for daylight.

 

3 degrees feels like -17. Was supposed to get 3-5" last night. Ended up being freezing drizzle and a very light dusting. Burned some maple, ash, and hack berry.

 

36 and falling. Rain supposed to turn to snow later. Wind is starting to pick up.

Boiler is full of hedge. Good to go.

 

Cold inside and outside today. Poplar n heating oil with a side of electric for the pull off the starting line.

 

-7 burning everything in sight as fast as possible to keep the gas from kicking in!

Up to 32.4....hope it drops in tbe heavens n here....freezin rain really has me concerned with these temps....loaded some cherry n ash for awhile...
