The OP EURO and Ensembles of the EURO continues to show some epic cold invading the US late next weekend. That is a full on and major displacement of the #PolarVortex.

That shows a lot colder temps for us than what most radio stations are calling for!

Well, today is "THE DAY" the big storm is s'posed to hit us, somewhere around 1-2pm. Pic of the NZ3000 before I put the first load of the day in her. I've been using ash tops from a double removal blacksmith and I did last week, it's burning good, and as efficient and tight as this stove is, that's a coal bed from nothing but ash, that load was put in the stove at 1130pm last night! This stove still amazes me, the heat and efficiency is impressive once you learn it. And a pickup bed of ash tops lasts me almost 10 days......

Anywho, is everybody in the storm path ready? They're still predicting anywhere from 8" to 18" here in the Allegheny Mountains.

Joe and I are headed out to do a dead oak removal this morning, trying to beat the storm. Be safe everyone, keep us updated on your situation!

Gonna give her until 10 for the sake of my happiness

From what I'm seeing, I won't need to put the plow on until this afternoon. I've been half expecting a Sat night into Sunday sleepless night of plowing. Looks like I'll be able to hit my contracts early Sunday morning without a problem.

At least I'll be well rested.

Snow to start falling around 9 a.m. here then ramp up at noon.....bring it. I had planned to cut some this weekend but we'll put that off for now. We are right on the edge of the ice band, we'll pass on that I hope but the genny is ready if needed and we have 15 gal of gas, would just need to snow blow a path to the back and hook the cord into the box I hardwired a few years back. Can't run the whole house but plenty of juice for the well, boiler circulator, stove blower and some lights.

Not as worried about the snow.....ice could probably cause some issues. I would rather just run the snow blower and leave the genny in the garage but I had both running for awhile this week just to make sure they are ready.

They're calling for a total between 8"-12" here in McAlevys Fort. It's supposed to start around 1 PM. We will see. Gotta get some oak in the garage and finish splitting and stacking some elm. The clock is ticking

I'm planning on heading out and cutting some more beech this morning. This storm is a major disappointment.

A little rain, that froze. Then blowing snow... and a cutting north wind...is what we ended up with.
