It’s crazy. They say it’s because of freight but come on. My father about 10 years ago was going to be head of a pellet mill and was going to start producing pellet fuel just down the road from my house. His boss died and it never went through. But he had the idea how much it cost to produce them and he even said it’s outrageous how much people are charging. Some people are easily making like $100 a ton on these. I understand it’s supply and demand but another place near me as the season goes on the price gets higher untill spring.

I can tell you... getting stuff from Washington, or British Columbia,
that the freight is freaking ridiculous.. The train freight rate has gone up considerably
a couple of times just this year. And now, they can't carry as much.

There is absolutely no way anyone is making $100 a ton on Douglas Fir
on our side of the country.
Not unless the consumers in his area are more wealthy than Mark Zuckerberg.

The rail lines in western Canada are full from all the crude oil trains because they don't have enough pipelines so the railroads out there are set the rates accordingly the wheat farmers in western canada couldn't even move their crop to market earlier in the year they had to truck it to market making for a shortage of trucks

Well I burned a bag of the green supreme Appalachian hardwood and I have to say I’m pretty impressed. Low ash great heat. Going to pick up a ton. Why not for the price.
