Ok all you Browns fans (and adversaries - yeah I mean you Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals fans), its that time again. Time for the Draft!!!

I can't seem to win when it comes to football. I grew up north of Buffalo and was a die-hard Bills fan (I'm talking War Memorial Stadium days ..... O.J. Simpson stuff). Even after moving to Ohio in "77" when I was 21, I still stuck with the Bills. Oh sure I followed the Browns, (did you see Kosar was "cut" for the second time the other day  ), but it wasn't until the Bills lost the umpteenth SB in a row in "96" that I finally gave up on them. I was going to become a Browns Fan ........................ To bad Art Model decided to move the team to Baltimore and turn them into purple birds! Of course, the "purple" Browns proceed to win the SB 2 years later!!!

However, the football gods felt sorry for Cleveland and awarded us a new "Browns" expansion team in "99". As the world knows, except for a brief glimmer of hope in "07", we have been sad bottom feeders ever since. Even with the top draft picks the bottom feeders are awarded, we just still can't seem to get it right. Few teams (maybe none) have drafted worse than the Browns since "99".

But all that is going to change now! We had a decent off season with veteran FA player signings to fill some holes. And we have 10 draft picks this time, including the 4th, 26th, and 35th out of the gate. Are we going to blow it again this time? Hell no! We're going to draft 3 QBs with the first 3 picks and get it right this time!!!    .

Seriously though, with the front office changes and Billionaire Jimmy at the helm, this is the year that we turn it around! :emb:

I want best available impact player at #4 (could be a QB), a/another QB at #26, and best available player at #35. That is assuming that we do not trade up somewhere along the line. If we trade down even once in this draft, I'm going to buy a yellow towel.

Ha ha! Nah, I will probably go from a casual Bills fan to a Browns fan if the Bills are moved.

By the way, I really liked what I saw of Hoyer in his brief outings until the BILLS took him out! (It was his own fault, the dude needs to learn how to slide, maybe Weeden gave him some tips before he was cut!!!) I want Hoyer to start the season and let our 2 new QBs carry the clipboard for awhile. He deserves another solid shot!

Oh yea, speaking of ex-Cleveland coaches and that revolving door .......................... Didn't Bill ever teach Hoyer how to slide all those years holding the clipboard for you? :p

Actually, Hoyer was a pitcher, infielder, and outfielder. In 2002, he compiled an 8-1 record with a 1.99 ERA as a sophomore. He was the winning pitcher in the 2002 Ohio Division I State Championship game. Dude knows how to slide, cleats just caught the grass and took out his knee. Of course that big huge Bills player legally pancaking him at the same moment didn't help either. I'm glad Mike Pettine is on our side now.

Latest gossip is that Trump might buy them and move them up to Niagara Falls, build a new domed stadium for them there. That would be fine with me (being from Grand Island). Niagara Falls is about the same distance north from Buffalo as "Orchard Park" is south. I can still remember those drug laden "Summerfest" concerts at Rich Stadium in the early 70's, 3 big name bands (like Santana, J. Geils, and J. Tull all in one day). Flashbacks I guess!!!

Thanks for sharing the pics. I spent summers working (truth - playing) in the Mayville area. I still think rural NY is a hidden gem that the rest of the world is unaware of. If the team moves to Toronto, forget it. I'll be a casual Browns fan.

Shorts, sweat shirts, and duck boots to beat the morning dew in the summers. Miss those days.

Awesome... I love a good Buffalo connection. I'm from outside Rochester but went to school at St. Bonaventure. Spent many nights boozin' around the area, eating too many wings, and of course catching some STEEL. Know of Cattaraugus creek?

Ain't it the truth. Folks who have not been around NY think of the city, and that's their impression of NY.

Wow, small world. I actually grew up in Kenmore, your next door neighbor, then moved out to the Island when I was in High School! Hey, I remember seeing CSNY at one of those concerts too! Maybe we were at the same one! :smoke:

Ahh, home sweet home. I can feel the "sand flies" plastering me in the face as I zip around River Rd. on my "69" Kawasaki 500 right now! I worked on the original crew that built the River Oaks golf course during the summers in HS.

Nice fish, more "displaced" New Yorkers here! I've fished Cattaraugus Creek many times. My younger brother and Dad got into chartering after I left and worked both Erie and Ontario. My dad's gone now but my brother still keeps a big boat on Ontario although he's not currently chartering any more. He picked up a nice used 27' Boston Whaler last year that he keeps at Wilson Harbor. I make several trips up there every year to fish the Lower Niagara and Ontario. I'll be up there the week before the GTG working the shoreline for those big fat Browns and steelheads. Maybe even a big salmon or two! I posted up a brown trout fishing thread under "Game" but no one replied to it. Was starting to think I was the only serious fisherman on here!

Yes, they don't call them "Buffalo wings" for nothing! "Invented" at the Anchor Bar (on the Niagara) during a blizzard when there was nothing left in the place to eat but those "old useless wings" that only got used for soups and such. Threw them in the deep fryer and presto! It always amuses me how the world calls them "Buffalo" wings, but us locals just call them "wings". However, its the "wick" sandwiches that I search out whenever I'm back home.
