Still enjoying the bare ground here. Now it is cold enough the ground is frozen....again. Maybe it will stay frozen for a couple months now. But hoping we don't get much snow this winter. It would not hurt me at all if we got none, but realize that won't happen.

But this winter has me wondering if it might be another record year of very little snow. The least I remember was one year we only got 17". I think we got one big snow in February that year and it did not stay but a few weeks.

Picture is from last saturday, we had a little snowfall today but it didnt last.

Bavaria got hit pretty hard in some places,
folks down there are used to snow but it was quite a bit so far.
They called in Mountaintroops, Airforce, THW, Firefighters and Police.
Snow is upto 3 yards they said 1-2 weeks ago,
theres been avalanches and cut off places in rural areas.
Winter is coming soon here, i wonder what it will be like.
In 1978/79 around here was the same situation, cut off farms and such.
Schleswig-Holstein was back then even more Farm country as it its today.
And people werent prepared as 1feet snow is plenty around here.

    (sorry all in german)

    Schleswig-Holstein 1978/1979

Heres a few Video Clips from Bavaria and also from Austria 2019.

Wow that looks like a lot of snow. I dont know if my region has ever had a snowless winter. I would suspect not and I would hate to see the consequences of that. We are having an El Nino year in BC which means milder and dryer for our winter. That being said we have had snow on the ground for months now. A low snow pack usually means a drier forest during the summer which in turn makes for a dicey forest fire season not to mention its bad for our trout populations.

I love me some decent seasons spring-summer-autumn-winter but last year been more like spring-hot summer-summer-summer/autumn. I got to say i cant even remember some good ol four seasons year. Always seemes to be not more than three :deadhorse: :fart::fart::fart::fart::dennis:

That would be frustrating. I grew up in that environment although it was normal there (Vancouver Canada). Vancouver rarely gets weather that most would consider winter like and if it does come its quite fleeting. Having distinct seasons is nice since the next season always seems to be right around the corner.

I got to admit we had winter but it didnt felt like
I think it feels always a bit mixed up, anyhow in the end for a coastal climate we're doing allright.

I spent a lot of time on the roof shoveling that year. It was frigid too so nothing melted between storms.

Same here on making the most of the snow free ground. We never know what we are gonna get and can't change it anyway. We are doing a few things we can't normally or soon won't be able to do. Make hay while the sun shines. Life in a northern town.

I have been splitting a big round each night. Splitter was put away for the winter, but the wedge and acorn make short work of it even with a hammer.

    Soon enough.....

We had flakes tonight. Tomorrow evening into all of Saturday we're to get snow. ~5" for us northerners, but there could be a good amount of lake effect snow. Further south, there will be more snow.

It's doing outstanding Suburban wood snob thanks for checking in!! I really have nothing but excellent things to say about it. It's been heating our home really well and I've been getting some really good burn times! Hec we love it so much my wife is actually loading it sometimes during the day to keep her chugging. She even learned how to adjust the air, am shocked...LOL!
