Both stores in my area are closing , along with 49 other locations, will shut down in North America — 20 in the U.S. and 31 in Canada,
This is sad, I like Lowe'sand go there sometimes, I go to Home Depot Mostly because it's a mile and a half away.
Maybe Menards will Take up residence In the Lowe's Building In my area That is closer Then the Menards I go to now now

It's a building supply with absolutely crap lumber..... go figure.
Years ago they seemed to have better lumber than HD, then all of a sudden it's like the two franchises were in a race to the bottom.

If companies would hire someone who actually knows something it might help.

Agreed! Both of their lumber is crap, however Lowe's charged your more for the same crap as HD so I always ended up going to HD for larger material projects.

Any project I want to turn out really nice and look nice I get material from my local lumber yard!

They closed one Lowes in MA. I have been into just about every store in New England at one point or another for work, and the one they closed was always dead whenever I was in there. No big surprise.

It's also almost across the street from a HD. I just dont get that logic.

Similar experience at our HD the other day. Nobody home. And the help they had on hand..... Not kidding a bit. Every one I ran into looking for help was. Um. Challenged upstairs to put it nicely. Not trying to be a horses arse but:eek: I get it that everyone needs a position in life. It was just surreal being there. Unsettling.

Both stores that are closing near me, are directly across the street from a Home Depot

Nearest Lowes to me is about 40 miles away.
    Its Closing.
    I rarely went there.
I go to HD cause it close.
    Menards is not too far.
Talk about bad lumber. our HD has a cart full of "bad" lumber they sell for 70% off.
Its as crooked as a dogs hind leg.
Not bad if you need short chunks and aren't too picky.

Not surprising, seems like there are more workers than customers in ours, although they're not closing. Still, we need a new fridge since ours puked out Friday night. Compressor is showing a short using my multi meter. Not a bad 19 yr run.

Anyway, I was on hold a total of 15 mins, woth 3 disconnected calls, trying to see if our local Lowes had the one we want in stock. Nope. The closest is an hour away. Guess what we're doing tonight?

That's clustering. You build across from your competition to serve those same customers that have driven X amount of miles to go there.
Demographics have already targeted the location as being the best location from what is available for the area . Restaurants and gas stations do the same. It's also often a Town's set aside commercial zone to build in.

Amazon, etc. is taking a big chunk of the business.
At the transfer station this weekend, every vehicle I saw roll up while we were there tossed at least one Amazon box in the cardboard trailer.
