Burning Maine Wood Pellets here. 12F outside and 75F inside. I don't consider them a shoulder pellet. I burn them all the wood burning season. With my p68, never an issue.
Me too. But, at the same time, I added some of these to the top layer this morning: Stoves have not reached them yet, but we have plenty of single digit mornings coming up in the next week to see how they perform. Then it will be back to the MWO's from TSC - until I can unbury other stuff in the garage.
Matra's in the upstairs stove and T&D Wood (I think cant remember atm) in the P43 which is actually a break for it compared to the Okie Plat's. T&D wood what the heck is that you say well I called a few days ago down to Robbins and she said we are out of Matra's but we have something new. I said ok what are they and she said 100% eastern white pine 9 k BTU well thats not true according to my experience maybe 8300K at best maybe a little higher and she also said they were .30 ash which was correct maybe even less. Now with that said I don't know what the heck is in these generic white bags without any branding as I have never seen any pellets like them. 70% look like I don't know maybe MWP blend and the rest are Green pellets ? almost like they never removed the limbs and the pine needles were still in them. Smell is very close to the MWP softies but with a little funk thrown in almost like Petrol but not quite. Wondering if I got some pellets that were produced after a die change ? Not leaving any residue but kinda funky to say the least, just glad they burn decent and leave little ash as the Okie Plats are wearing on me . Will end up mixing the Okie's 50/50 with these to take some of the ash burden off the poor P43. I would not recommend but they are burning pretty dang decent but who knows T&D Terry and David , Trent and Daryl, Tommy and Drake ? Who the heck knows ..... Oh yeah the price same as every other pellet this late in the season $289 a ton , they do create a lot less ash then say FSU, NEWPS, and even MWP blend and give off about the same heat if not a bit more than FSU's. This pic is not 100% T&D as it has some Matra's mixed in but you get the jist of it they are not your average pellet or like anything I have seen ..... I burned then in the P43 because it is pretty much direct vented up from the cellar and I wanted to see what he exhaust smells like as the P68 goes 28" up a chimney, well they don't smell any different than any other pellet .
They burn pretty hot and don't leave much ash but man they are funky with the green pellets and they do funnel pretty bad. All in all for the price I do prefer them over the Okie Plats big time as they create a lot less ash and burn hotter, their packaging lacks although the generic white bags are strong enough they have large perforations so if any moisture is introduced they are damaged and I had 3 bags that suffered damage. They have a decent hood on them and then are shrink wrapped and that is where they lack quality as I had to tie a few knots in them so I did not leave a trail of shrink wrap on the way home.
My Brother who burns them exclusively says this years stock is burning hotter than he remembers in the last few years , so not sure what or if you have changed anything Scott but seems to be working purdy dang good man. Wish now I had bought them instead of the dreaded Okies.....
