15*F loaded the OWB with Red Oak for tonight suppose to be below 0*F nice and warm in the house. Hope to get a 24hr. burn.
22 outside & heading for 16 overnight. Stocked up a bit inside and topped off the outside stash. Red oak, hickory and black locust inside on the ready.
They're saying a low of 16F at 5 am. It is 17F outside now. Gonna throw a few oak sticks in with the elm tonight.
28 OST 72 IST we are north of the big storm. Probably not see any snow. Watching the gold rush have a few blue smoothies.Black Locust and Ash again.
28F out now. Hung there all day with a little sun. Hauled a little wood up & cleaned the boiler out after work. No wind, really nice. Same temps & no snow for the next 7 days they say. Broke into a crate of Oak splits that are 4ish years old. Small splits for the old furnace. Had to reload fast with the door open, they took off like gasoline & bumped the temp quick. Got about 5cord of that left. Don't know if I'll use it all up this year or not, but it makes good heat.
A drop in temp for tonight and then it should roll out by the afternoon. Poplar n heating oil because I haven't burned enough oil yet. Not even kidding.
19*....66* is......reloaded with some cherry n locust....callin for up to 4" of snow this evening....
Was 31 below at 10 pm . at midnight up to 28 below. It got up to 19 below at the warmest today. Guess what's in the stove?? Yup . that's right. Poplar
6 feels like -8 and 74 inside. Oak in the stove overnight, and I just reloaded with more. I got about 1/3 of the cord of KD moved in yesterday, probably finish today and tomorrow. It’s at least 90% red oak so we’ll be warm for awhile. Another couple of real cold nights coming up but the polar vortex is keeping the snow south of us so it’s a trade off.
Current temp -7°F headed up to 11°F today. Never saw any real winds last night so that's good. Burning aspen & maple at the moment.
Woke up to 9F outside 66F inside. The furnace kicked on for a few minutes and that was enough of that. Burning down coals to bring the temp back up this morning.
Current temp 10F. Just burned down the coals of last nights oak, locust, and ash and stuffed the stove full of ash for todays high of 27F.
Good morning to you all, 7 oat and 70 iat, 4" of last nights Oak coals roared to life with fresh Oak (3 yr. dry) added and the door cracked open.
