Had time and a break in the weather for a few hours this morning. Got one big oak log CSS and a small one cut. The splitter and I ran out of gas about the same time. Got the MS 362/25" bar buried in this log... It has one small side that has a little rot/termite damage. Went all the way up the tree to one side of a big fork. Still a lot of nice oak in these rounds, though. Maybe catch a break again tomorrow.
Yes sir, it does. We get a lot of big rounds sometimes and it makes sliding them around a lot easier. It sits a tad bit higher than the spurs on the splitter foot. I usually use it on my older splitter, but it works great with the new splitter. Roll a round up to it, flip it over, and slide it to the foot. Might do a short video next time we have some bigger rounds.
At least you could give em a chance like Josey did but they wouldnt even try anyway dont they?! Is it Red Oak? The log with the rotten bit at the end..
What’s not to like? She’s doing it the right way and he has modded the machine to prevent doing it the wrong way... Anything too big to lift he gets the workout from mauling it to size...Brilliant I say...
Haha. Look at the last pictures, we do it the right way with the big rounds too...that's where the metal foot rack comes in so handy.
You do nice work sir! Looks like everything is cut to the same length and split and stacked perfectly by your partner. Motivates me to get out and cut and put up some pretty oak stacks...
yes sir, always try to do my best. My hunny likes to run the splitter, she stacks some, but said she doesn't do Tetris like I do...lol...we work together on it.
Looking good down yonder T. Jeff Veal, Nice Post T. Jeff thanks for sharing. The base reminded me of last spring. I have a little Ariens with a thick end of the beam probably 3 inches. Got tired of struggling with the big rounds so I cut 3 straight round limbs just a little higher than the beam end. They acted as rollers and made it so much easier. One of the rare occasions that I felt kind of smart.
Had a good day yesterday. My hunny came up and supervised me bucking up the logs, then she had to go run errands. I had cut the smaller logs in 16" rounds to finish the half cord rack and the other logs 18" for the other rack. I split the short rounds and had stacked almost all of it, was gonna take a break, get some gas and start on the longer rounds. Well, the phone rang, an older lady was needing a load of wood. I told her is wasn't dry, she said she had been burning green wood in her smoke dragon and all she had left was some 2x4 cutoffs from a construction job her son works for and their saw was broke. So, I unstacked the hickory I had just done and some more oak that was behind it, got it delivered yesterday afternoon.
We have a little time this morning after running some errands to cut, split and deliver some big pecan limbs to the Queen of the hill's house, (aka Mama). She was happy to see us...
