Sitting at -28 C or -18 F with some wind on top, but not much. The heavy wind suddenly vanished about 7 hours ago in a matter of minutes it seemed. Poplar in the stove and I'm heading for the couch.

33 OAT with ice everywhere. It’s freezing rain and has been all night and everything is cancelled locally. A little further north and east and it’s all rain. :hair: We’re supposed to turn back to snow as the temperature drops and then we’re headed for the big freeze this weekend, below zero and more high winds. 76 inside, I just put a little pine on the coals.

Maina you do a great job painting a little picture of misery every morning! I can only hope the summers make up for it. Rope's weather is so so much more extreme, but he's such a stoic it's hard to really pity him. You, on the other hand, pull at my heartstrings!
32° here and slick roads, but supposed to get to the mid forties, maybe the last time for awhile. I need to do some splitting for exercise today, I haven't swung anything since last week.
HolsatiaRedneck has it pretty bad, seen much snow there? I think you are getting the polar vortex thing.

Still snowing here but according to what is on the ground, it must've taken a break through the overnight hours. I'll be using the snowblower again today (yesterday was the cottage's turn) to move of the stuff that enables complaining!!

Yeah I’m a whiner lol. I used to love the winter but now I’m older and paying for my indifference. It has been a crappy winter here though, not much chance to get out. Thanks to nerve damage, Lupus, and Raynaud Disease I can’t take weather extremes at either end of the spectrum anymore so summers tend to keep me inside just complaining about the heat and humidity. I’ll try to be more positive in the future.

No no, let it all hang out! One great thing about New Englanders is we don't pretend things are fine all the time. aviary-image-1547035343227.jpeg

Thanks for the teaching point, had to look up stoic, might have a big helping of masochistism somewhere. Like a moth to flame I am drawn to the extremes. Love Alaska, loved living in the Sonoran desert as well.

26 outside with a BRISK NW wind at 15-20. That's hard to handle when it was in the 50's the past couple days.

It's quite common. The only thing I know to do to stop that is install a swivey chimney cap. They work Great. You can You Tube search swivel chimney cap.

Holding at 29 and snowing. Good dusting overnight. Have a winter weather watch for several counties and mine is one of them. Predicting 12" in some area's but only 3-5 here today. The watch goes till 6pm tomorrow so we will see. Looking at my car and maybe an inch so far.

Ended up shoveling and let the snowblower take another rest. Wasn't too bad but I don't think my knees and back got that memo!

This mornings feel temps were -13; real temps were 9. Still snowing.

Gave the stove a break overnight & today or at least that's what am telling myself (actually pinching splits) as some milder temps moved in yesterday and overnight. Blustery and chilly temps for the next week or so, gearing up for a long stretch of burning.
