    Hey guys/gals

    We just bought our new home in August, it came complete with 2 wood burning fireplaces, a supplemental wood burning furnace and a PE Summit stove. Our main source of heat is propane. The pervious HO needed a backup to the backup. We use the PE daily.

    We are new to the wood heat game and we can see the advantages. I am currently working on the next few years of wood. This year we are stuck with buying "dry wood". It has definitely been an eye opener. When I tell someone that I will be checking the moisture content of their load before I accept it, you cannot believe how many people will hang up on me...

    Anyway thanks for the content. I am learning a ton. I have cleaned the chimney for the stove twice in the last 4 months just to make sure I'm doing it right. I have contacted a chimney company to inspect the rest of my stuff just to make sure its correct.

    I'm in the process of finding a company in the Minneapolis metro that can help me with sourcing parts (gaskets) for my PE.

    Here is a pic of the start of or wood pile, lets see if I did it right! Wood Splitting.jpg

    Hey Paul Paul Booth , welcome aboard.
    Once you get through this winter, don't worry so much about getting DRY wood. Make it dry yourself. Looks like you're well on your way already.
    Here's a link to PE's page for the Summit...Pacific Energy :: Summit
    Hit the "support" tab and put in your zip code for someone local (maybe).

    Welcome northeastern neighbor. You got a lot better start than I did when I started heating with wood, and it looks like you got a lot more“heat” growing in your pics.

    I learned most of what I know about heating with wood and chainsaws from the very helpful FHC!

    Looks like a great place to make firewood. You’ve got some heavy duty equipment. I’m impressed just looking at the size of the rounds.

    Thanks guys this looks like a fun place to hang out.

    This was the ash tree we took down this weekend. The previous HO used it as target practice. We left the first 8' still standing due to all the lead and metal in it. AshTree.jpg
