While most are getting mosquito bits we may have frostbite. Stay frosty my friends. D3BDC390-91A9-4E7B-9273-A37C9DD8E312.jpeg E23821F7-6DDD-4F4F-925B-E1F49FE3520D.png A5670008-BD9B-4C5A-B387-66B6D47448B0.png

Sitting at -10 C feels -20 C or 13 F feels -3 F. The temp has starting dropping in the last hour, and the wind seems to be amping up, so just waiting on more snow to fall now. Poplar in the stove as always.

Off the top of my head I think it's 6 feet down. Snow depends on the year, but usually a decent amount by prairie standards. I'll have to see what our yearly average is for snowfall. I don't mind snow, as it doesn't make the weather any colder and helps to insulate the shack.

Stats for the city say 116 cm total snowfall in a year, but taking into account melting in early and late season there's obviously not 3 feet of snow everywhere you look.

This morning temp . Dry poplar in the stove. I'm going to have to put my contacts in. It's about impossible to wear glasses when wearing a breath warming face mask.

We have permafrost here. Between 1 -4' down It never thaws out unless dug up and put back. Some places, like much of Tok is thaw stable. As is my property in Delta Jct. Most of Glennallen is NOT thaw stable. Meaning that when it thaws it sinks, then it freezes and it heaves. Have to crawl under the cabin with jacks and shims come spring and try to level the cabin enough so doors and windows work. Not my most fun job !!

Got up to 19 degrees and now it is 25. Had a little shower of ice pellets with more coming in tonight. Tomorrow 43 and rain. Then dropping down to highs low to mid 20s for the next week with a stray snow storm once or twice .

Warmest winter that I can remember. 17 degrees out now usually we would be 10 to fifteen below now.

Same thing at myl cottage with the exception of perma-frost. I despise that leveling job!

It is currently drizzling here with the mid 30's for temps.

Probably ended up with 3" of heavy wet moisture laden soaking dripping snow overnight that had to shoveled (pushed) by yours truly!

Today was the first day it didnt get about 40* since 12/10/18.... thats very abnormal. Tonight in the low 30’s and I have a “salad” for stove chow, its a mix of everything.

Tomorrow 60* again hahahaha, then back to 30’s as highs for 10days it appears so stove might get to see some 24/7 action finally!

No ice on the lakes here :headbang:. Winter will probably show up around the beginning of spring down here.

Over here on the western side of the state it will be getting a bit colder for a day or two and then warm back up into the mid to upper 30's. Still waiting for the polar vortex to hit.

Currently 29.8 °F . Warmed up today and most of the ice is melted off the roads on my side of town so that's a huge plus. Burning a hardwood mix.
