My point was most “off road” vehicles are only slightly different than there “on road” siblings. It was not to bash or offend people’s choice in vehicle style. Nor was it to bash Toyota I have some friends that use and abuse there Tacoma’s and they hold up pretty well.
Nah, I understand you. .You said you prefer the same brand that i do. I just think that many literally don't understand that these off road packages are many times more than just a sticker.
If I had the extra cash I would definitely have a raptor and I would definitely beat the balls off of it. There’s a pretty sweet video of a raptor that had tracks installed and was running full out through the snow on top of a mountain ridge. I think it was built for the rally driver Ken Block and some professional snowboarders. I’ll see if I can find it.
That’s actually more of a tour of the truck, only shows a little driving. There’s another video out there of that thing tearing it up, shouldn’t be hard to find if anyone’s interested.
Just do a roush conversion on a 5.0 F-150. Just the stage 1 suspension, appearance, wheels tires and exhaust. It's better at towing than the raptor, and sounds better. Then you can go ape and get the super charger. I think they are 700 hp then. Raptors are nice, but there's a negative stigma about them. Usually something to do with trying to make up for other shortcomings. I had my own run in one time with a first gen raptor owner at a gas station. He wanted to pull all the way through a 2 gas pump station, even after I was there before him. He wouldn't let me get gas in the same row as him. So I backed up after a few second stare down and I went to the other row to get my gas. He thought he was all tough in his raptor until I got out of my audi. Then he backed off, literally and figuratively. I am 6'4" and 260 at the time. This guy was maybe 5'9" and 170 ish. He didn't say a word after I called him out on being a d bag and he actually jumped back in his truck and closed his door after starting the gas pump.
Awesome trucks! What year is your Tundra Wood Wolverine, 2003? I just sold my 2002 Tundra SR5 and picked up a 2006 double cab SR5 one owner truck with 86,000 miles. My older Tundra had a locking rear differential even though it wasn't a TRD. My new one doesn't and I wonder how it will do in deep snow and such. Four low still seems to do the job so far, but that 2002 was really testted in deep snow and mud and was hard to get stuck. They are awesome trucks. In 16 years the only parts I replaced in the 2002 since buying it new was a radiator, brakes, tires, bed lights, a few batteries and one timing belt. Even the headlights were original, and not so much as a loose thread in the interior. I want my 2006 to get to me to retirement in 6 to 10 years and then will look at the Tacoma.
‘03. Approaching 180k and crazy reliable. Just replaced original front calipers and aside from routine maint, that’s it! Those ‘06 wheels are starting to corrode. I’ll go aftermarket next.
Those wheels look pretty good in the picture. The 2006 I bought had some newer aftermarket wheels and older Michelin LTMX tires. I swapped my original alloy wheels and new Michelin LTMS2's to the "new" truck. On closer inspection the 2002 wheels are showing their age.
Pretty good Toyota specific wheel company. I purchased wheels from them a few years back. Good looking wheels and reasonable prices. TOYOTA
Our 04 v8 4runner is ultra reliable as well. It's had only a couple parts replaced, all wear items too. 1 front caliper, couple sets of brake pads, tires, a water pump and timing belt, accessory belt, a front wheel bearing/ hub, and a speed sensor, and both front CV axles. There's been 2 batteries, air filters, a set of plugs, a couple of bulbs, and an ac charge top off just last summer. That's it. 165k and no sign of it letting up. I wish they made tundras in Japan like the 4runner. But then there'd be the chicken tax.
We had an 88 4 runner 5 speed. It was a very good truck as well. I sold it when we started having kids and realized that it would be easier to for my wife to get in and out of a minvan with the children, so I bought a Dodge caravan, and we had two of those before getting a Suburban in 2004 when all three children could easily get in and out of any vehicle.
