I run an industrial blasting/painting operation but we do misc walk in jobs as well. I've done wood stoves in the past but not very often. Here's a Lopi Patriot from the early 90's someone brought in. Blasted clean and coated with Temper Kote high heat black. Kinda fun to make them look new again.
About 18,000 sq ft, good size for what we do. Most of our business is the industrial market and a fair amount of automotive. All the misc "walk in" work helps mix things up.
Thanks. Unfortunately all the rust cause some pretty good pitting which is quite visible on the stove top and a bit elsewhere. Not much you can do about that, but sand blasting makes quick work of it. No holes or cracks in any of the welds that I was able to find so with a couple new gaskets it should be ready to go. My customer seemed pretty clueless though and I'm really hoping he doesn't burn his house down.
Hello I use an angle grinder with a 40 grit flap pad to remove the rust and smooth down the pitting. Then some Stove Bright Satin Black to match the original color.
