Starting to hear a little squeak from the exhaust blower , been in service for about 4 years . Is there a way to lubricant the shaft or general area just to help with this slight noise?
Get some Anderal 465....preferably with a longer spout on the bottle....and put a couple drops next to each bearing and hopefully it'll seep in. You might want to pick up a spare motor to have on hand AND a new impeller. Unless you have taken the impeller off before or put anti seize on the set screw there's a good chance you'll be cutting it off the motor shaft. You can buy all in one motors with the mounting plate and impeller attached but they're a bit pricey(er) than buying the motor and impeller separate.
Actually, here's an aftermarket one with everything included...plug and play Pellet Stove Convection Blower Fan Motor for Quadrafire 812-3381 | eBay
X2 on the Anderol, stuff is awesome. If it has ball bearings, and you can get a few drops of oil in it,may greatly extend the life, and quiet it down.X2 on the seized impeller,I keep a spare.I sometimes use a diabetic needle to put oil into the bearings, but, has to be taken apart,as the needles are short.Would be nice to have a long snout thin needle for some motors.
LOL,no,Don,but nice tool.Need a long thin needle,to reach past the impeller, and such,so disassembly is not necessary. The needles I have,a pharmacist gave me some years ago,are probably .015 dia.,can slip them underneath the seal. But,I do realize a longer needle this thin would be fragile.I use the same needles to glue plastics together, using acetone and such.BTY most people do not realize, you get just a drop of good oil in a sealed bearing, where the grease has hardened, will loosen up the grease and prolong the bearing life a long time.
