yeah in that one picture the sunlight made it look more brilliant colored, but I see what it is now. Great score for BTU's! Looks a little gnarly, but seems you're getting thru it.

The pieces are about a yard long, a little trickier to split but doable. Sledge and wedges all the way. They are dirty but the bark comes right off.

Yeah, I'm kind of poaching in your territory. It was not an easy score, though ( at least they way I did it). The second load kicked my butt! IMG_20190102_45203.jpg
I'll go back Friday, there's some left, and there's a nice old lady.

Parks used to be great places to meet up to buy/sell illegal medicinals.
Messing with branches would be a great cover for illicit activities.
    Especially in low light.
The whole time they are chewing the fat with one person they could be watching another who is thinking maybe this cop is busy so they can do something stupid.
All they are doing is getting a good look at you and judge if you are nervous. NBFD if you ask me.

They probably won't bother you until someone complains.

I agree! I know a picture adds 10 pounds, but still!!! I'm starting to wonder if Midwinter is taking Julio along on these trips. Hmmm???

I haven't heard any more from Julio. We parted cordially, but I think the homeowner lady didn't cotton to the giving me wood arrangement, and chewed him out.

I went back for the rest of the locust. There were a couple pieces I had to cut. IMG_20190104_19776.jpg IMG_20190104_2816.jpg The MS180 did fine! IMG_20190104_34711.jpg Some wedge porn... IMG_20190104_4946.jpg IMG_20190104_57580.jpg There turned out to be more left than I remembered. IMG_20190104_3498.jpg I going it all in, though. A couple chunks rode shotgun. IMG_20190104_10546.jpg
I arrayed it all under the pine so it gets rained on, and hopefully cleaned up a little. IMG_20190104_17330.jpg
The nice old lady homeowner said she'd call me if her son takes down any more locusts. This one had blown down in a windstorm last year.

Ugh... Driving home with smelly Black Locust as a passenger! You really helped that woman out getting rid of her gnarly wood. The average person doesn't know the value of BL and wouldn't have thought it was worth the hassle to transport and process "zombie wood". She could've been stuck with it for a while. Plus knowing how you work I bet you left the area better than you found it so I'm sure she will keep you in mind.

I don't know if this is the right thread, but this is my favorite hoarding tool ever!
I used to take down trees with this one in Germany :salute:! Never minded about the size of the tree...

    Nice work!

I was in Lowell today visiting a customer, very close to the oak cop's house. As I was parking I realized that there was about a hundred locusts around their property, and behind their neighbors building. Took a long slow ride out the driveway looking for anything downed, or the limbs that I could see were cut off, but no such luck.

I'll trade ya some for something else, just not oak. I'm becoming a strategic reserve for oak and locust.
