Red maple this evening. Mrs Papi did a good job tending the stove while I was away for a couple days for work. Came home to 74 inside and the last of what I brought in before going away being packed into the stove. The girls even saved me a couple chops for dinner after the long ride home! Got me a keeper.
30 out 73 in, ash and beech in the box this evening. Mid 20's overnight, have some red oak and sugar on deck.
33F with a low of only 30. Finally out of Silver Maple, so I'm burning some Elm in the boiler. Still no winter weather in sight here.
Around 24 F here tonight. Just loaded the Wood Gun with Ash rounds and Maple splits. At these temperatures these BTUs should hold until 8-9 am. Relaxing with a cold Blue Light.
Today was the last above zero of my 3 day warm spell. Brought a load home and made about 2/3 to a mile of new snow machine trail and access to more standing dead and lots of blow down. It was around 10 above cutting and -7 by the time I got home.
Here too... we’re spending a lot more time in the basement recently (man cave coming along) and when I got home from work, Fire Flake had the stove justa simmering away with red maple and cherry... not terribly cold out but warm in.
Someone already said polar vortex . Prediction Center said the first part of February. Is there good website that tracks polar vortex ? 26 f burning slabs ..shopping weather stations. Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk
It was hot down here today 104F, it’s dropped down to a more respectable 60F at the moment. Going to be a nice and cool night with a low of 52F Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
34F burning down the ash and oak coals. Reload with all ash coming up. Gonna be mild for the next 5 days. Sunday night in the teens, Monday high of 30 is the coldest.
25 feels like 20 headed into the upper 30’s today. 75 inside still on coals. Cleaned up 4” of fluffy snow yesterday finally instead of slop. Looks like it’s here to stay this time, maybe lol.
The big dog is Dr. Judah Cohen... Arctic Oscillation and Polar Vortex Analysis and Forecasts | AER | Weather Risk Assessment Judah Cohen (@judah47) on Twitter a summary... The polar vortex is about to split into 3 pieces: Here's what it means
We're at 28 outside and 75 in the family room. Did a reload with hickory an hour ago and the fire is burning perfectly now.
I think he’s right. We aren’t getting off this easy in the northeast. The worst usually sets in by mid January.
25 this morning lent to icy roads as they weren't quite clear and dry from yesterday. Sunshine starting out the day here but the good news is we're heading to the upper 30's!
Was 29 when I got up. Currently 34 and climbing. Maybe up to 45 today. Right now clear blue skies should help with drying I hope.
Weather still holding a bit above normal, sitting at -11 C or 12 F and supposed to warm up some later. If the forecast holds out, we'll be on the mild side of normal for a week where it's not really warmer in the day but not as cold at night. Stove chugging along on poplar as always.
About 28 this AM, had a couple of small coals left from last night's load, enough to ignite a couple of oak and maple splits before heading off to work. Suppose to jump to 50 today, but sure don't feel like it out........I'll be firing it up when I get home for the evening.
