For sure it sounds like it was time to quit. When people get this way, it is a sign to stop as this is when most accidents happen; should have stopped because was tired but just kept on going.

Nice work jrider ! I used to just work till it was done no matter what, but like Dennis said, that's when stuff goes wrong. Better to finish another day than lose a lot more time to an injury.

Great work. Your body always gives you signs of when it's time to quit but sometimes the mind says keep going.

I ran out of gas walking uphill to the shed and taking the splitting maul out. Set it back down and closed the shed door back up.
I'm fighting some kind of cold.
    That's a nice heap.

I had about 1/3 as much left unsplit when I ran out of gas yesterday. Both literally and figuratively. Couldn't see myself walking past the back door to get to the shed where the gas can was

I agree with you. When it gets to be work I stop. Especially since I retired. I always enjoy the process but it sure is nice not to have to do it when I am racing a clock.
Your fuel tank looks a lot bigger than mine. I ran out of gas a couple of times getting this far.

I'm retired, but, i've got a really bad habit, when i go out to cut wood, i kind of put myself on a mental clock, and, i try to get a load by a certain time of the day. It probably has some thing to do with cutting wood in a open clear cut. Then, when i get home, i feel like i have to unload the pickup now. Then i kind of slow down and take a day or to to split it all up and stack it.

Finished up today in 30 minutes. Then I moved the splitter so my son can split his wood he sells out front in small stacks. He’s splitting maple today. I pick through my logs to find smaller diameter stuff he can handle on his own. 22F1AFD4-7B71-450B-A56A-B52B4DC7C24B.jpeg 125C697F-D999-4C2A-85C3-D8E16EDAD752.jpeg

jrider is your son the one that had the unfortunate experience of people stealing his hard work and rewards?

If so, has a "remedy' been made to help deter such thievery going forward?

Yes it was him some scumbag stole from. Not much to be done with a roadside honor stand but word got out and many people have over paid and more than made up for his losses.

Well, I hope he has come to realize that not everyone is a thief, and that the good can indeed overcome the bad.

It is unfortunate that he had to learn such a harsh reality so young, but "what's done is done".

Still chaps a person's arse though.

That's a pile. Yeah, your body tells you to quit, at least take a break.

It will be there the next day, you can't say that if you hurt yourself.

When I’m skiing it’s alway the last run when I get hurt. I have learned that when I’m tired it’s time to quit! No matter the activity

I get to stumble or falling I call it quits. I can work for hours, but at that point, I know nothing good will come from continuing.

    Great stack.

Did that wedge come with your splitter or is it an add on? How do you like it?
