The last thing I milled was some 6" hemlock siding for a repair job on a house down the road in a nearby community. Winter time, things slow down at the mill.

Great job, Jim. Also recently engaged in repair work and studied how to work with hemlock siding. It wasn't easy, but the effort was not wasted.

Some interesting figure, but not as much as I'd hoped for in all the crotches.

Couple of white oak slabs. Only my second time ever CSM’ing. Man is it fun. Lots of work but fun. I’m sure I’ll have a bunch of questions going forward so I’m glad this section of the forum is here. Still debating on a bigger saw.

My family gave me an Alaskan Mill for Christmas. Got to try it out today on the other half of a small ash I slabed out for a mantle. These boards I hope to use for some live edge details on shelves underneath.
Pretty pleased how well it all worked. Got 5 boards at 6/4.

Even so, I was surprised at how well this little guy did. Granted, it was only 6"-8" stuff, but still went a lot quicker than expected. Took it real easy and gave the saw a couple breaks each pass. Biggest problem is the oiler doesn't seem to keep up. Will have to figure that one out.
