    rate of change increases to around three minutes at the equinoxes

    I get off work at five and on a clear day I can see the difference driving home.
    But yeah, there's still a good two months of terrible temperatures to endure yet.

    Usually not but it has came close to happening occasionally. I remember a few winters with barely no snow and no temperatures even below 10.
