This cherry started to show bark problems a few years ago and it’s gotten worse this year. So like lots of other posts, it was a beautiful day to get out there and I took advantage of it. The tree is a about 40’ from the house.
Lately I've been using whichever saw will start. Spent the afternoon splitting pine that was still sitting out in the woods in rounds. 22% isn't too bad for 9 month rounds, should dry out the rest of the way ( for Feb or so) pretty quick now.
I did hyme and hawe a little. It was the 357xp or the 362xp. I went with the 362 because it still in break-in I think. It ran super. The 288xp was a no brainer because some cuts were 24” +, it’s a new top end and I wanted to try it and when it’s in the cut it’s fun. Also a no brainer, my new Husqvarna hearing protection generously gifted by MikeInMa for Christmas! They are the best I’ve ever worn. Thanks again!
It really was a nice day! I enjoyed hauling the brush back, tooling through the fields, as much as anything. Perfect weather for this work. 30F and the ground frozen again.
Tree down. Tree bucked. Looks like the right decision on which saw to use. Then again, with your quiver of saws, pretty much any of them would be the right choice. Glad to hear the ear ppe works as advertised. The height you were cutting, gave them a good test.
Had just a few big boys left this morning. I went with the MikeInMa method with a noodle to start them off. Worked like a charm. Got somewhere shy of 1.2 cord out of that tree. Beautiful morning!
