IMG_1596.JPG I held the trees up waist high with the root grapple and my buddy cut with a 365. 6 trees took exactly 20 minutes. Tomorrow we split. To be fair the saw had a new bar and chain. The old bar was SHOT! Lasted me 15 years.

It really takes the back breaking work out of the equation. A chain will last forever not playing in the dirt. I'll take more pics tomorrow splitting. We fill the skidsteer or 953 bucket and place it even with the splitter table so we don't have to lift them all.

I got a little spoiled cutting off the forks or curled in the backhoe bucket ( no thumb ). Now I'm seriously considering getting a capstan winch so I can pull maples out of the swamp to cut them on dry land using the tractor.

Any way you can work smarter, and not harder is always a good thing.

    Nice work!

The good thing about the ash trees that the EAB has killed...when they hit the ground the limbs turn into splinters and you don't have to deal with them. Sorta like cutting telephone poles then.

Obviously you work steady. You split everything by hand. You would love that 14" diameter ash. Explodes on contact.

I won't cut them down. Too dangerous. I push them over with the loader. They drop missiles on your head. I pushed one over the other day and a giant limb fell on the front of the loader mashing the return to dig linkage. Would've killed me. The part is $500 but my welder buddy can save it.

I don't like this one bit, it's cheating, and it's not fair! I'm checking the FHC rules book, but I'm pretty sure doing it that way is not allowed.  All stated with great jealousy, Brandon Scott . Some great pics there!

Once that little green monster hits your area you will be amazed, glad, and saddened at the same time.
