Finally had a little time today so I got out the huskihl ported 036 & bucked some 18" Oak. Ran 1/2 a tank & that saw really gets it done. Especially given the chain was questionable at best due to the logs being dirty. I put on a "stumping chain" & went to it. Got the nasty ones bucked & ready to split. Only have a few logs left. It needs to freeze up so I can haul in more.
Yep, mine was from those logs getting dumped on the ground. Some of the dirt was frozen hard yet. I knocked off what I could with an axe, but that's just life working on a deck. Last 5 or 6 are pretty clean. I'm gonna put my ported 044 in those & see what it does.
Yes sir, especially as opposed to the 4' monster in the background. Saving that one for some heavy duty run time on my Armbru84 built MS 660.
Nice stuff! I deal with cable skidded logs and dirt is the price of admission. Hard on chains and often can only cut a half tank before the chain goes away. But that half tank will yield a lot of wood. Tip, rather than cut from the top down, plunge cut from the middle and when coming up, the dirt is thrown away from the power head rather than being pulled towards it. Helps on chain life.
Looks like some good firewood! Its still muddy here too as it just hasnt been cold enough to freeze the ground hard yet.
