I've never paid to clean up someone else's tree mess...but if it is close, and of enough interest to you, then yeah, maybe $50...maybe. They should really be paying you. Free seems like a better compromise to me. Might as well buy "seasoned" wood from a firewood dealer if you are gonna pay much for this log, and then do all the processing work on it too...
Just like the ad says, $1. I'd tell them they can keep my dollar if they help haul their mess away to my trailer. If not, charge them $1 a round you load and take away.
Yep, both win. You get free wood, he gets free clean up. No other way around it. Share beers. When your done!
My saws, gas and time are not free. I would offer to take the wood, and pile the brush in one place for free. Anything beyond that I charge for, depending on the size of the crown, $100-$200 for brush removal, more for raking and blowing the area
I'd ask him what his favorite beer is. Nobody buys yard trees for saw logs...so, it's only good for firewood. If he asks for you to sign a waiver, walk away...
You do know why it's laying there right? Tree company wanted extra to buck it and haul it away... Or his buddy came over and dropped it for him and it's his problem now..
I'll take option A... I'd be offering to clean up his wood for free and tell him to plant that dollar bill...
After thinking I'm making a confession. Older homeowner, maybe tree service took the money before finishing or they help, I've been know the do some basic racking/clean-up. Not setup to haul a bunch of brush.
I have done this several times for people close to home. I’ll tell you this, word travels fast. I have more wood to cut than I could think about cutting. There’s a lot of oak!! There’s also a lot of work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That will be a ton of hard work if you have no loader etc. Doing it for free in exchange for the wood is all I would do, and that is giving them a great deal.
