My old Subaru fit easily in the garage...use to zoom in and out,
Honda Ridgeline is a little wider at the mirrors giving me only an inch or so to spare at the doors.

Early on, I tried the old zoom in and out till i took out a mirror. Luckily they fold, but I still have cracked a few when not paying attention and in a rush. :emb:

Also lucky that I can get just the glass part for 25 bucks

Generally, I now come almost to a stop then proceed slowly

We had a dry day today so I dragged the little crusher out and plowed through 2 more barrels of the large shells.

I have 4 barrels of 1st run crushed now that are ready for the grinder..
Glad that this may be the only season we need to do this crap.

    Burning pretty good....

    That sux

My honeys oldest son just bought a 2019 Colorado Z71 last week. Ive been schooling him on car buying over the past few years and he did great.

First and foremost, I have taught him to do some homework, have a budget that you do not go over due to being star struck, go in with a reasonable price willing to pay, and most important-be willing to walk out the door if they do not meet the reasonable price.

2 days after Thanksgiving he had me go with him to a Chevy dealer to look at a truck he really wanted and they were advertising at 32K, marked down from over 40K. He made several calls to confirm pricing and drove down from Portland to Dover NH where we met him at the dealer. He test drove it and loved the truck.

Then came the BS when they said that there were incentives at that price which he didnt qualify for and the best they could give him was 39K. we pointed out that the price was clearly marked online, he had several phone conversations and now they are not honoring the pricing. No mention of these incentives were online or during the calls. Finally the "Sales manager" comes and reinforces the 39K. We still pointed out that there were no mentions of incentives and that they should honor the pricing listed. That when the sales manager azzhole pointed to "we are not responsible for pricing errors". We pointed that they need to change the pricing and the sales manager azz said that they cant change the pricing online as its out of their hands. I fact, he said that they have a truck in the showroom that is 5K over what is listed online due to extras being added to the truck and he cant change it to show the true price.

I didnt call any of the shots here and like he had been schooled on, he walked out the door.

I say he did good because he kept looking and learned from this experience to ask certain questions prior to making the trip. He just bought a 2019 truck that he loves from Arlington Mass and paid 30K. They also gave him what he wanted for his trade-a Forester that he bought used a few years ago and was worth 13K. That was the real negotiation as he wasnt buying the truck without them giving him what the Forester was worth. That was a 2 hour negotiation.

Like I said, the kid did good

Car dealers are such a PITA

I prefer dealing with private parties if at all possible.

Glad the kid did good

Yeah, Ive dealt with some real a-holes in my day but this one took the cake. I am usually the one who gets irritated when they act like this, but mom was here and you dont mess with mom's kids with mamma bear around. He made all the decisions in Dover and took care of the purchase in Mass by himself. Heck, the dealer even delivered the truck to Portland and picked up the trade in Subaru so he didnt have to make the trip again.

Yeah, I looked at a couple of 2017 leftovers - $500 difference but without as many features (like heated seats - Explorer has spoiled me).

Also, when buying, make sure to compare payments. One of the incentives was $1,000 off for financing thru Ford. Now, Ford was getting 6.9% interest. Without the $1k off, I could get a lower interest. If you don't put much down, then the payment is a couple dollars less going with the higher price (without the $1k incentive). If you put a decent amount down, the reverse is true (don't ask me how that happens - I think the interest rate goes up a little the less you finance). So I went with the higher interest. BUT I can refinance in 3 months at my credit union and get around 3.9% interest - and save on the monthly payment. Gotta play a little game, and they are betting you won't go thru the hassle of refinancing later, but it can pay dividends if you do. I my case, I should save $15-20 per month when I refinance.

I do the exact same thing B. Over pretty much every big purchase. Drives the wife nuts. I swear if I charged myself for all the time spent researching...wow. Anyway, congrats on the new car - hope you love it!

Have been kind of lazy today. I got up and did some computer time; here, FB and my blog. Downloaded a couple of songs from Amazon for my MP3 players - gotta love getting $1 back for music if you chose the no rush shipping as I downloaded 3 songs and paid less than $1 for current hits. Took the new car out for a spin and got groceries. Before pulling the car back into the garage, put a bunch of clay cat litter in the big oil slick from the old car (had to get clay cat litter while I was at the store).

Then took the truck into town for a wash. They put in a new machine so you now have a choice of how it washes - I chose touch free which means I wasted my time getting up on the back bumper to remove the antennae. At that point I realize that was the first time the truck has been washed since I bought it the end of April :emb:.

and, here I am again on the computer . . .

This issue with the rust doesn't apply to the Colorado, only the full size. My 2016 Colorado doesn't have a speck of rust on the frame or anywhere else. The best advice you can give him now is wash it frequently, especially a bottom wash.

    Good price too!
