    Eastwood MP250i Welder - Best Multi-Process Welder

I'm thinking of buying the unit to replace my old dial arc 250. I can't seem to find many reviews. Plenty of duty cycle for myself, and leads will be long enough. I've got 50 amp dedicated breaker in my shop and garage.

The biggest thing for me s replacement parts. Seems like a reasonable deal, but better get some better insight. Thanks

My 2 cents on this is though I like Eastwood for auto body stuff ( SOME TIMES ) just about anything they sell can be found cheaper elsewhere. I do some welding both at home and work and can say when it comes to welders stick to name brand if you want longevity and parts. I personally have a thing for Forney brand stuff but have used Miller, Hobart ( Same company ) Miller being the higher end.. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either of those! Ive also used Lincoln another very well made lineup. After Owning a HF and Chinese job-smart ( Now grizz has it ) I will stick to name brand these days. My Forney is built like a tank and is frankly one of the best Ive used. Im not saying buy what I have just stick to name brand and you won't regret it.

The problem with Eastwood stuff is its mostly Chinese made which isnt necessarily bad but it is risky on that big of a purchase unless you know who made it. Trust me Ive been down the road with their 90 amp flux welder a buddy bought and its a pile of junk.....

Where I love Eastwood is the frame paints and body paints. Ive done some stuff with those and that lineup is top notch but again expensive.

Eastwood is a BIG sponsor of shows like what motor trend and other networks put up. Because of their target market DIY and hobby people I also do not trust their reviews on the website.

Thanks pete! I was worried about getting parts. I too owned a little junky HF welder . Junk IMO. It had plastic gears that wore out in a few hours. I need to buy new, as being end of year...I need to spend more for my business. Don't want to finance a bigger welder.

In my opinion I think you should change "replace" to "put alongside"

Hobart has some nice multiprocess welders for around the same price tag too. I’ll do some looking later tonight. Right now I’m having world war three with this really crappy delta faucet install.:wacky:

Those new vulcan from Chinese Freight have some pretty good reviews over on the tube.
I agree with name brand but with that said..
I don't own a welder yet. I'd buy a vvulcan as a homeowner though and as ave would say there are two kinds of people in the world.
Those who weld and those who want to weld.

I'm all blue here. Trailblazer 325, syncrowave 250, mig 251, 12rc suitcase and a spot welder. Bought the syncrowave over 25 years ago the others were later. Oh forgot also a aend iirc engine drive that's a spare now. Only repairs have been brushes in the foot pedal. My vote is go blue even if used. Check dealers for trade ins or demo units. Like good tractors blue holds it's value if you decide to sell it later.

That is kind of the idea. My son will be getting my old welder. He will be ready fairly soon. 12 years old now.

I will look into them. I had a 140 handler oncem but of course it was a little small for my needs.

A world of difference between faucets that are sold in box stores and real plumbing supply houses. They can have the same model number, ect. However, the internal parts will be plastic vs. Brass. I built a new house for a couple that wanted to buy their own fixtures. No problem for me, until I brought in the plumbers. They showed me the difference, and wouldn't install the fixtures from lowes. Hard to believe, but true.

Some manufacturing companies around here often decommission their welders after a period of time, friend bought two miller something migs and i think he paid about $500 each, definitely not homeowner grade when i used them last

Just those guy of that you can search without a membership. Did a quick search and found a few good threads on HTP there.

In the welding world, things are "basically" simple. "BUT" some will always try and reinvent the wheel. Your joining two pieces of metal together!!! They've been joining metals together since the 10th century but our welding processes "we" know today started and has improved since the 1920's just after the Titanic. Stick/arc welding hasn't changed nearly at all since then, only in the fluxes and smoother machines. MIG and TIG has came a long way with square wave, high frequency developments, pulse and so on. I welded in and on many ships, boilers, HP and LP lines, fuel tanks pressures, bla, bla, bla.... Get a "quality" machine that will do your needs. My personal machine now is a Hobart gas powered machine and it's also my house back up generator. I don't do what I used to, only house stuff and my projects. My other suggestion is figure what amperage your in need of and try to go bigger. Machines get more $$$ as you go up in amps. Having that extra (oomph) is nice.

Oh, and I also forgot to mention, "only" the real "CHEAPO" welders are made in China. Harbor freight sells a few from there. Many are made in Italy, Belgium, and of course here. Some of the parts come from other countries but what isn't any more. I cna't remember which ones it is but "STAY AWAY" from machines that only give you a 30 day or 90 day warranty. That right there should tell you something... My Hobart had three years and my 35 year old shop master is still going. My Buddy has an old Miller from the 50's in his garage and it welds as good as anything today.
