45 and raining, headed for 50 today. Rain is supposed to stick around until noon tomorrow. It is all kinds of muddy and I doubt more rain is going to improve that situation.

Boiler couldn't handle the boredom and let the fire go out....water temp was 135. Stirred up some coals, hit it with the torch for 10 seconds, and now its back off to the races.

I'm still absolutely amazed at how little wood I'm using this year with the new setup.

A bit of ice around in spots this morning. Nothing here but I guess there is in spots. I got notices from the trash collection about roads they can't get down because of ice. Strange; it is 37 degrees... But I suppose we had rain overnight and with the frost in the ground it could have frozen on the roads. I've talked to a few people and they say just in a few spots it is a little slippery.

image.jpg image.jpg Cooler than expected, we must be on the edge of something. Should warm up a bunch later though. Keep in mind this is actually nice for December weather just disappointed we're not seeing the moderate temps forecast.

34 & foggy here tonight, real crap. Picked up my new trailer & had a 45 min ride each way, it was not nice. Supposed to be mid 40's & sun over the weekend, we'll see. Got plenty to do outdoors if it's decent. Silver Maple in the boiler again, hoping it stays lit. Not much heat load.

Weather did end up being really nice today. It's still warming up, but we're sitting at 0 C or 32 F right now. Wind picked up as well but not too bad. Some ugly rough poplar in the reactor.

34 this morning and headed for the upper 40’s today! :dex:But it looks like one day only then back into the 30’s and below.:heidi: Our 4 day warmup got drastically reduced somehow overnight. Beats zero though!
Still burning coals down for a light load later, probably just a little pine and beech so it doesn’t go out completely.

44 here this morning and no fire. We'll let the natural gas run a bit this weekend. After a bit of hunting I think I will take a look at the chimney and drop the cat shield......get ready for the cold of Jan.- Feb.

37 here now, the warmest in a while. Took advantage yesterday afternoon for a much needed ash cleanout. Burning some Oak now for a short couple hour fire.

37° here already! The cat is frolicking around outside. Burning elm, but that's too good for these temps, so I'll scale back to red maple. I hope to finally cut up some oak today.

30 this morning. Ash/Maple mix for overnight and boiler isn’t even running this morning. What a difference that 30 degrees makes! I have been cruising through some wood when it’s 0 out there with a breeze!
