That is utterly ridiculous. I hope you can find a resolution to this serious problem.

My 1991 Chevy doesn't get used alot anymore but I have oil sprayed the underside several times. Lots of road salt here and with 154,000 miles it has some rust but it has virtually stopped progressing since the first oiling. I feel for you as I would not want to find a replacement truck with todays prices.

I hope you can find a decent used truck. This thread is good info for me. I live in or-ee-gone and our wonderful state is talking of going to salt as a de-icer instead of the magnesium cloride that they use now.

Magnesium chloride is more corrosive than salt. Both are tough on vehicles.

Check out Fluid film. It smells nasty and isn’t the easiest to spray but it hold on better than oil. I do my vehicles once a year.

They say that the new trucks will have the warranty voided if you under oil them. Some BS about the ABS sensors not tolerating the oiling. In this area, most of the guys spraying are using a petroleum based product designed just for rustproofing. it penetrates and sticks, as well as creeps into all areas on a on going basis and does not affect the rubber weather stripping. After two years of applying this product you then only require a touch up annually, as it is continually building up and sticking on applied surfaces.

Fluid Film, which is lanolin based, is too expensive (at least up here) and needs to be re-applied more than once a year. It does spray well if you use a undercoating gun.

It could be...but I kinda doubt it. "They" say using aftermarket oil/filters voids the warranty too...and we all know that's BS (or at least I do...having worked at several dealerships)

How much does a new frame cost? I’ll pay 50 bucks a year to get more life out of my vehicle.

Just purchased an 18 Silverado and had the underside fluidfilmed. He got into the frame thru the supplied holes, and up in the wheel wells etc. Hope to have the truck last 15 years. By then will be 15 yrs older and hope to becable to still climb into it. Elevators for 2500 4x4 are expensive.
Plus, may not be able to lift a lot of 40 lb pellet bags. Hope to.....

That last time I knew of anyone replacing a frame it was on a fairly new truck, due to a crash...the frame was $1100 but the labor to change everything over was MUCH more!

Depending on what you can do yourself a frame swap on a pickup isn't as bad as you would think. On a 30k mile truck it's definitely worth considering.

I have an '03 dodge with the same issues. Repaired the frame once, now it is around the suspension on the rear. Might rehalf it next summer. Use it on the farm and cross my fingers, but like you, it was paid off and runs good and bam, need another truck.

Talked to the manager at the dealership today. He said that they can do "good faith" type assistance beyond the factory warranty, but only out to about 7-8 years. We talked about frame replacement and he spitballed about $3-4 parts and at least 50 hrs labor. So... I'm officially S.O.L. No surprise there.
