My in-laws really know how to treat a firewood hoarder. I've posted on this forum about a vintage book and a log Jack that I've received from them. Well, my MIL works for the city and they had a maple taken down in some park or something. Anyway, when we go down for Easter tomorrow we are taking the truck and going to start bringing it home. Not sure how much is there, but the old lady thinks it's at least a truck load.

Also, scoping out a pear tree-- or trees-- that her aunt and uncle need taken down.

I think he is referring to his wife not his MIL.

Nice load. Some good splits are going to be received from that score. But if (a big IF) I'm not mistaken that looks like Ash to me. Which is even better IMO...

Looks like maple. I think :)

Left some nice wood behind. some heavies.
Next trip, bring a ramp to roll it on the truck or a maul to make them smaller ;)

Bark looks more like Norway Maple to me.

Nothing is too big for me to wrestle into the truck if I bring the saw and cut it to length.

A true hoarder will make it happen with his tools of the trade. Next trip it'll be all gone and back to your house for processing, and a happy MIL will have her driveway back

That's what a saw is. I like to do most of my processing at home.

    Aaaand, the money shots.
Gotta' say, that looks like Maple, even though the bark is a little different than what I have.
Looks more like 2 loads. Nice. Half cord-ish?
Whatever it stacks out to is gooder.:tree::axe::fire:
There's no stacking smiley, so I had to leave out that part of the process. :)

Someone needs to get on that stacking smiley problem STAT! I was estimating about 2/3 of a cord, but several pieces will break down to 1 full length piece, 1 short piece so I will end up with about 1/2 cord stacked and then some odds and ends for BBQ and kindling.
