3years css. Stove dampers are closed all the way. Quadrafire 3100. The pic is an hour into the burn. I'm thinking of adding a damper to the flue to choke it down more and get more secondary burn. Its all I heat with even though I have a furnace. Going on four years now. I put a new door gasket this year too.
Cold here tonight too. I topped off the IS with oak and went to bed early. I get very little locust. Good stuff!
It's not listed on their website anymore. Sadface. I want a 5300 now. This doesn't get the back bedrooms much over 65. Which I'm okay with but I have little ones. It does a good job heat 1750 square foot tghoug
I've been picking a few random splits of locust from my stack. Very rare to even have it here. It's about 24 right now..
Locust & Hedge are the go to cold weather woods here too. We've got a fair amount of Black & Honey Locust both around here, Hedge is a bit more scarce. I save mine for 0 & below.
I typically save mine for 10 and below. And that's how I time my stacks for this year's burning. I have another 14' row til I get to the HL and BL but I can reach the very top of the row. I grabbed some cuz I was outside all day and it's 19 out now. I figured the HL would take the chill out of my shoulders
Sure the primary air mechanism is closing properly? Looks like there is plenty of primary fire there for sure... Did it work?
The ACC is hit and miss but I manually close it so I know it's closed. It has too much primary fire, always has. I burn more wood than I should too. Six full cord average. 9 on cold years like 2014-15. My FIL only burns 3-4 and he's heating 500 square feet more.
Ever look into modding the air control to allow it to close a bit further? I think it was Loon did this to his stove with some good results...
At night. It's 30s during the day currently. Last week we were hammered with 3" of rain and everything is still wet
