Pretty cool, I am thinking about that and I also need to upgrade my outside weather station as it took a nose dive. Doesn't find the wireless sensor. Bought a new sensor and still nada. Hoping to have some :makeitrain"after the holidays to play with.

I may also get the stove on a data collector that's been a wish for seasons now. But that might still be too pricey!! :emptywallet:

Day at Hellvard again but got a call on the way home from the possible new employer / friend and it looks like they have almost landed their first big job well for them anyways $50 mill . Asked me if I could show up next Friday to the "Meet the team" as it is between them and one other contractor. Said sure so thinking I am going to go for it as its a smaller company, great people to work for and possibly less hours to work which means I may be able to spend more time with my honey and start to work on the house again . Now i just have to figure out how to give notice as I don't want to burn any bridges and I have never in my 40 years in the business ever given notice. Not sure how it is going to go but I have to do whats right for my honey and me instead of doing what I have done for my entire life and that is put my company first.
Tomorrow going to try to grab 2 tons of mantra's then replace the stove gaskets, clean the esp probe and clean the exhaust piping for good measure. A full day for sure.

    Hope are well

Got my Christmas tree planted in the living room, tomorrow I'll start trimming it. It will take a few days, I'm slower these days. What used to take a morning takes a day now.

Congrats on making the decision - must be a load off your mind. Yeah, the hard part is giving the notice at the right time so bridges aren't burnt but not so far in advance they decide to just let your azz go right now. The two times I have given notice, I had a closed-door meeting with my manager and things worked out fine. Don't be surprised if they offer you more money, but make it clear that is not the angle you are working from (assuming that is true - which seems to be from what you have said over the last several months). Whatever you do, don't go on a rant about hours, people or anything else. Just explain that this is a great opportunity with a growing start up with people you know, and they recruited you, you didn't go looking.

I have the resignation timing issue since I will start at new employer on 1/7/19 (confirmed 2 days ago), but my present employer has a shut down the week of Christmas until the day after New Year's (company paid - not using vacation time). A two week's notice is technically 12/17/18 as I would plan to work the first week of January. But they could decide to just let me go and not have to pay me for the shut down. I don't think they would do that, but it happened to my ex when he gave notice at a company he had worked at for 10 years, so you never know.

The week before Thanksgiving I was in training at a customer's site, and this past week I was at the second week of training. Got the cert to prove it.

Green Belt certificate from BAE-name covered.jpg

The first week my team won the team competition (4 teams - all randomly selected by drawing numbers). That was a short competition just involving survival. I had the low score for the class (lower is better) and I got my team to agree to a lot of what I used to make the team get the low score - despite the fact that we had 2 of the highest scores for individuals.

This past week we had a competition that included using statistics in a paper helicopter flight (using several different configurations from a static base model), making a 10 minute presentation, passing assembly times for 10 helicopters in 10 minutes and trials that each of the 10 helicopters had to stay in the air at least 1 second. Then we picked the 5 builds we wanted to use to go for the longest flight time and then figure in the best Standard Deviation. All these factors were scored and massaged by the instructors - my team squeaked by another team.

Each team member got one of these for an award
1st place prize for team project for green belt week 2.jpg

BTW, I was the only common denominator between the team wins for the two weeks. Does that make me the cause & effect? ;)

The new clothes washer is easier to get laundry out of. It uses twice as much water as the old front loader, and like I was warned, it doesn't clean as well and I'm getting little holes in some of my shirts. Too bad I can't exchange it.

The water is an issue because we haul it 450 gal per trip. 30-45 minutes per trip.

Bogie if I could I would give you a big HUG ! thanks for the advice as mentioned before I have never ever had to do this in my 40 year career. While it helps to have made a decision its still wearing on me as I have to give notice and way to much chit is going through my head but at least I have made a decision. I have no idea on how this will go down but I do know they will not be happy as Harvard clearly wants me to do the Dean's House as it is the most important building and the absolutely completely most fuxed up building. So Harvard directed my company to pull me off the second most important aspect of the project and have me do the Dean's residence so I am guessing this is not going to go over to well but enough of that train of thought as it is exactly why I have never put my family first.
Ivan good advice as well and thank you its true have to go with your Gut
    Thanks again Bogie

Now back to the task at hand 2nd load of Matra's going in the hole and then stove maintance with Gasket replacements and the weekly cleaning including the ESP probe, curious what do you guys use to carefully clean the ESP ?

Hope all are warm and well . first load .jpg first load.jpg Second load.jpg

You clean the ESP weekly - dang, tells me what your OCD is all about! I "clean" it once every month or so - whenever I clean the exhaust path/pipe. I just carefully work an exhaust cleaning brush past the ESP probe - please note that the brush I use is about 2.5" in diameter so is not a tight fit in that chamber. I do have to scrape each side deliberately with the brush, but I don't have to wiggle it much to get it under the ESP and into the path further back. I have never removed the ESP for cleaning and haven't had any issues (KOW).

In the P68, I remove the ESP probe twice per season (major flue cleaning times) and clean it with a paper towel, wet with water. Only takes a minute to do, and looks shiny new when done. When I take it out to clean, it only ever has a very light coating of brown ash on it. In the P43, it only gets cleaned once per season, because that stove doesn't burn enough to justify cleaning it more frequently.

Enjoy those Matras luney, I know you will.
