My 7 year old son, Dylan, loves classic tractors. John Deere is his favorite but he loves them all. His bedroom is almost done and I want to get him some more of these tin signs to put up. (I got the ford one for his Easter basket)

I haven't been able to find many, anybody have an idea where to get them?

Reproductions are readily available at local flea markets, farm supply stores, possible even walmart/target or similar places. But originals in any condition will take a bit more searching - quite a few online,at the local estate or farm auction, also flea markets.Unless they're really trashed such as major dents/rust/fading or missing paint & the obligatory bullet holes - expect to pay a good deal more for them than reprints.

The antique & collectible field (in most anything that people collect) is full of fakes, even though some look actually pretty good at times.

I have several (reproductions). Deere is one of the easiest companies to get nostalgic merchandise for.

eBay, flea markets, the county fair, have all been good sources. You can also order them from a multitude of online sources other than eBay.

I'm diggin the Allis Chalmers WC sign.....

He can even name them all! He used to make everyone laugh at 3 when he would say his favorite tractor is a "rusty Waterloo boy" The child is an old soul, he loves to go to tractor shows and will talk for hours with anyone that will listen about tractors. I am very privileged to be his Momma, he's a neat kid!

He liked this one at the local firemans picnic last summer and he met the old guy who gave him a ride. The two of them, my son and the old man talked for about two hours over some root beer. The old man still comes up in conversation quite often. I wish I could tell him how much his attention meant to my little peanut.

You may want to get him the book "Tucker's Surprise" written by Jane Aumann.

The middle picture is the center strip off a Fleetline tractor. Like his shirt as well.

I bought all my signs for my basement from Amazon and eBay. I had good luck with random chainsaw, beer, and gun/ammo sings. They were all pretty cheap as well (less than $20 a sign)

I ordered him these four from Amazon. Never ordered anything from there before but I thought I would give it a try. I even found a Waterloo boy, he's going to flip out!

Ah Waterloo. Cool sign. When my brother & wife lived in Parkersburg Ia, we went out for a Thanksgiving visit. We drove by JD's Waterloo plant. Whew, quite an impressive operation they've got there. If I remember, they made the engines there. Go green…

Waterloo works is where 7000, 8000, and 9000 series tractors (the big iron!) are built.

6000 series are Mannheim (sp?) Germany
    3/4/5000 series are Augusta, Georgia
1000/2000 series are imported ? Japan I believe.
Lawn and garden equipment is mostly built in Horicon works, Wisconsin.
100 series lawn tractors (HD and Lowes models) are built in Greenville Tennessee.

They also have several other plants in the mid-west that build various products but I can't match all of them up. Moline is another big facility.

I figured all those "John Deere" tractors at the box store where rebadged Husqvana, MTD, Sears, etc etc.
