But then you could have either or both threads slipping off the first page. Posting everything to this one tends to keep it on top, easy to find, if you don't get notices or get too many. Just a thought.

At bare minimum I get a line and I know that's (historically from ) imgur. I don't know if that is my slow(er) connection or imgur slow, or both.

Usually I can reload the page and on the second try at least get the first frame of the vid to click on which sends me to imgur

Or just scroll past it and maybe it will work tomorrow.

If you're not getting even the vertical line maybe some setting in your browser regarding content from third parties ?
I know if someone posts an external image from Amazon my adblocker blocks it completely.

 

It's a crap shoot. Some work for me, others never have.

 

But oh man! When Midwinter's post DO play for you... totally worth refreshing the page!! I say keep posting them here.

 

Sadly for me here in the UK I see none of MM videos.

 

See, there's something technical going on beyond just internet speed. But I don't have the expertise to troubleshoot. One question that occurs to me, if you use an Android smartphone on wifi, can you see them? Is the problem restricted to PC users?

 

I mostly use a wicked old iPad on a cell phone hot spot with very low signal, the imgur links are very slow but I can usually get them to load, sometimes they open in a new tab sometimes they open directly in the window in your message...I enjoy them, keep posting.

 

If you can get them with that sketchy a connection... maybe it is a browser settings problem, as billb3 suggested.

 

Maybe post the page link along with the video that you attach to the post. Then we can go to the site and watch it if it won't play here.

 

There isn't a web address to copy. If you go to imgur.com you will see what I mean.

Midwinter, I can see them on LG smart phone and compiter that's at least 12 yo. FYI

 

There is a help page on Imgur, some snippets seem to say that some OS's don't play well with their proprietary video format. This is all the geekiness I can offer.

"Gifv is an Imgur developed container format that replaces gif files with looping silent video. The container part works fine for me, but not all of the video formats play well with Firefox in open-source-only configuration.
If the GIF has been converted to GIFV, some browser / OS variations don’t work. In particular, I find Firefox on Linux has not been playing well with recent GIFV, but older ones do work."

 

When your post comes up there is a share button on it. I click that then copy the link and can post it elsewhere.

 

OK, I usually copy and paste. Question, could you NOT see my version, but CAN see the one you posted? And other people who have trouble, can you see this latest post?

 

I have been able to see all of them on the home computer and at work. Haven't tried the phone. The other forum I have been posting some of these on won't let me imbed the video but will accept the copied link.

 

Yup...saw this one and it was right away.

 

I had to reload the page and it worked fine on the second try.
