I just talked to a chimney sweep, same guy that inspected both of mine when I bought my house ~3yr ago, (I know I know) and he wants $269 each to clean them?? I look on Angieslist and the first one to popup is $129 each without barely looking..

What do you pay per chimney? Cause I think I could buy a nice tool and clean it myself for that money!! Which is also a Question, what is the preferred tool to buy to clean it yourself..

Love it. It does a nice job. You have the option of doing it from the bottom up or from the top down.

I believe straight up and down on both.. Slight angle on the insert at the connection to the box..

I'm the "chimney sweep". Some flex rods, a 6" brush, a ladder and yours truly. Done.

If you can do it from the bottom, you don't risk falling off the roof.:dex::hair:

Soot Eater all the way...they work good.
$269 X 2 is highway robbery...unless you live on a cliff and they have to set up a scaffold to do the job...but if that's the case then they should clean "bottom up"

Leave the flu open , Close the stove door Everything will fall into the stove Let everything settle before you open the door

Top down is how I do. Extension ladder. Single story.
If your stove has a baffle(s), don't forget to remove before jamming a brush down the flue pipe.
