Mine will start next year too. I'm waiting to see how much, but probably the same as you. Parts A & B, and I'm planning to check into one of the myriad Advantage plans. PITB is an understatement.

They automatically enroll you 3 months before your birthday, You can go to Social security website and check it .

I didn't know crap about Medicare, I'm learning I don't like it much At all

    Yeah, did that already.
I keep getting stuff from other Ins. cos about signing up with them to manage everything. Evidently, they have contracts with Medicare for this. Seems like it would just add a middleman and extra cost. After looking at options, it's pretty messed up. Wife said I should call Humana (she saw their TV ad) and start asking questions.

I would double check on the "automatically enroll".
My wife was still working when she turned 65 and my insurance was primary coverage so why apply? Mistake. She applied when she was a little over 66. Now we have a lifetime penalty of I believe $9/month because she didn't apply when she was 65. #@!* govt. Just another tax.
She has United Health Advantage plan through AARP. $115 per month and she pays little or nothing at all for a hospital or doctor visit.
I will have to be checking into Medicare. I will be 65 in August. Can't wait. $135 plus $115 sure in the hell beats $1135 for my Obama Care plan with an $8400 before it pays anything.
The only thing affordable about the Affordable Care Act is, Once I pay the premium I can't afford to go to the doctor or hospital.
    Done with the rant.

If memory serves me well, you have to sign up for Medicare when you reach 65. If you are still working and have coverage thru work you have to sign up and then defer coverage to avoid penalties.
If you have not had a lot of paperwork coming in the mail while you had coverage thru work, brace yourself. Any notion of a paperless society is nothing more than a joke. You will be inundated with paper. At least that has been my experience
