I bought the oak/acorn rake from Woodstock, as it was the only one they had at the time. I dont like it, it's quite uncomfortable to hold and use. I usually put on one of the welding gloves first.

I got the set of three with my stove and I like it enough that I bought the stand, but I always wear my gloves when I’m using them.

I spent a lot of mental energy on this a while ago, searched the net for a good solution, and today I use my ash shovel, turned over. It works.

Great minds! I use the back of my ash shovel.
Push it all to the right side, kind of sift the coals
with the back of the shovel, drag them to the left.
Scoop the ashes w/the ash dragon...…
    good to go.

I just got New Welding gloves, Will see how long these last Harbor freight welding gloves don't last , I burned my finger a little Because there was a hole in the finger .
These are definitely thicker and better quality .
The old coal rake is still doin a good job

I bought similar gloves for the daughters boyfriend a few years back...but he never said anything about them! So, I don't know if they are any good.
