Driftwood is too hard on the woodstoves and furnaces. Fairly easy to get in some spots and where Mom lives, a lot of people harvest driftwood.

I recall those posts. It makes sense with all the salt in the wood.

    Same here.
They have destroyed the garden a few times.
This year they got the new strawberry patch and mowed the plants off.
A couple years ago they killed 3 new Apple trees and a cherry tree. Broke all the branches off of them.

Yea, the deer around here love to move to town. I see them all the time around the plant I work at, as I drive through the residential areas to get to my road home. I saw 4 last night after I got off work in town. This was a fawn I got a picture of the back in July in the middle of a neighborhood I drive through.

This was from this past July on my lawn. I never see these guys during hunting season

There’s a lot of wild turkeys around here also.

Just cut wood, the deer love loggers.

For two years there was a big buck that would stop and watch me everyday.

One year during hunting season, all these hunters were around me, and me and old buck just smiled. he would hide in plain sight, right in the middle of a clearcut, bunkered down next to a rock wall. I would come out with the skidder just screaming, and he would be maybe 100 feet from me. I would go drop my twitch, come back and he would be right there. All the deer hunters would take off and hunt elsewhere because I was cutting wood, and the deer would come in close knowing I was not going to hurt them.

After two years of daily interaction, I was getting so I could talk to them and they would not run off.

ONe of the biggest thrills is when a doe gives birth to a fawn right in the yard. We had one born a few years just a few feet from the kitchen window. The deer feel really comfortable near the house...so long as we are inside. Once in a while though they will watch me get wood from the porch and not run off.

Yeah, the birth thing has gotta be special.

I can't tell you the number of times I've "stopped" deer and actually performed field surgery (cesarean) in an attempt to help them with the birthing process. I must admit total failure in rendering aid though....maybe the fall is the wrong time of year for this procedure??

    Yes.
The plow wasn't out yesterday but already came by this morning. Just enough to shovel or it'll get the drive and walk messier for the next time.
