Very nice of you, scavenger. I, too enjoy using my dad's tools. He has been gone 17 yrs. We had a portable sawmill in 1980-83. We had 2 cant hooks, a 30" & a 60". I had been using the short one for several years and needed a longer one. I bought a 4' hook, but the hook was to small and wouldn't hold good. I was on Mama's basement one day and there in the corner was our tall cant hook. Handle had gotten powder post beetles in it and the bottom metal has rusted away. Hook and band were still in good shape. I replaced the hook on the 4', hooks great now.
