The other day my wife was watching a TV show and it mentioned explosives made from acetone and hydrogen peroxide. That got my attention because I frequently use them together. Is this something that I should be concerned with ? I would assume that it can't be that simple as I'm still residing on this planet. As always thanks for educating me. If anyone is wondering..... acetone gets steel really clean and the peroxide will cause immediate rusting. After a few applications you can develop a real nice patina that looks like it took many years for it to develop.
I understand the peroxide being an oxidizer so supplying oxygen for reaction. The acetone may be like table salt??? The Cl in salt which is NaCl if not bound will kill you. Maybe how the acetone is mixed for consumers is bound by something making it not as volatile??? I can't wait to find out what the real answer is!In the mean time don't use around sources of ignition!
Okay then, should I also say I occasionally have put table salt in and once or twice added pool chlorine to the mix.
This popped into my head after seeing rotti's ka-BOOM. shaboom shaboom life could be a dream at DuckDuckGo
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1871553211000685 short answer yes it will go boom. don't have to worry about ignition sources, just shocks and friction. I seem to recall reading this is what the bad guys like to use. I better not get a visit from a 3 letter agency over that search :/
Thanks for the link. From what I gather as long as I don't mix them together I should be good. I won't put them in a cabinet together anymore.
