You can say that again. Hope this isn't a sign of the whole winter to come, yikes. Can't even go to the woods if I wanted, got over a foot of heavy stuff a couple days ago that stuck to everything and pulled all the small stuff down. What a mess. -14c on the thermometer here the past two days. More like February than November.
Supposed to warm up this weekend and stay around zero for the next week or so...hope that is the case
Not really, Average Daytime in November Is 4o° / 45° , It has been unseasonably cold here lately , We usually do a Deep fried Turkey outside ,Not this year 24 Yesterday Was little too cold for that
Well I got it assembled tonight but need hydraulic fluid. It has some but only 1/4 of the way up the stick. I will pick some up tomorrow and give it a test run. Not sure if I could drag this out any longer
Thanks Maina ! I have never operated a gas splitter before so I am looking forward to it. We have to clean out a couple birthing stalls this morning then I will head to town and grab some oil and get to it.
Gave the splitter a small test run today. I certainly feel guilty about how easy it is. So nice to split right next to the pile and save a few steps. If I was splitting by hand I would have to gather all the splits off the ground. If I was using my small electric I would have to get the rounds up by the house then truck them back to the pile. I did forget to try some vertical splitting but I have a few rounds left so I will give it a go next time. I will say that they have done a great job of weight distribution. It is so easy to move by hand. Even in a couple inches of snow. I used the tractor to haul it down to the pile but usually I will use the 4 wheeler. I did like using the bucket as a work table for the rounds but it ususally has a blade for snow clearing on the back. Might have to get a quick hitch so the change over of rear implements doesn’t teach my daughter words she is best not knowing
I am thinking I will get a Pat’s Easy Change system for the lower lift arms. I have a couple implements that I don’t think will work on the regular quick hitch. Made in the USA so no duties and It will fit all my implements without having to modify them as a couple are older. I am thinking it would make a great birthday gift in April
Yeah with older implements that’s the ticket it seems. April birthday too huh? It is a great time for outdoor related gifts I’ve always found.
Bout time you split some wood with it I forgot you had an electric .no need to re position now You'll like that vertical position When you have some big uns to bust up
I am new to the splitter thing and this was the first use. I hope to streamline the process as time passes. I am seeing my 7 year old helping more and more, looking forward to the time we will be spending together. Keep the pics coming.
Congratulations Hammy of course we will need your opinions at 1 and 10 and 100 cord intervals and whenever else you feel like it!
I hear you on streamlining the process. I am sure we will be well oiled machines once we get a couple cords in. That’s awesome that your 7 year old is helping. My daughter is four and half and she likes riding along when I run wood to the house. She likes to make “trains” with the splits going down the ramp. Takes way longer but I want her to have good memories of helping and maybe one day she can save us some time Nice splitter by the way. I like the larger tables. I have had a champion generator for 7 or 8 years and it has been great. Keeps the water flowing and the lights on every power outage. Regular oil changes and decent fuel. Runs like the day I bought it and starts on the second pull.
