53 and raining buckets. Temp is supposed to fall from now until tomorrow night and land somewhere around 18. Didn't put much in the boiler tonight...more junk wood I found in the barn. I'll load it up with the good stuff tomorrow AM.
It between 15-20 cords a year. I was just looking at this time last year and we were at -32* and we are +0-10 for the next few days. So far this year I have saved 2+ cords so far. I feed a Blaze King in the house 24-7 and in the garage I light it every 2-3 days.
It warmed up Friday and Saturday First substantial snow For this year Coming tonight 5 to 8 inches, they say , heavy wet snow and winds Are supposed to pick up , gusts between 25 and 30 MPH Low: 33 °F Tonight , Ash in the Lopi Keeping The house toasty
Temp is 43 and dropping with steady rain and i still have not lit the stove as i done something this past spring and summer that is helping my house retain heat. Replaced a few windows sealed off the vents under the house, No where near as drafty and much warmer it is 67 in here which is still comfortable. I processed oak pallets today sense they were free from my local ace hardware so i got a nice stack of nail free wood to get a fire going in a hurry in the morning suppose to be cold and windy then but the wind is something right now.
42* now....mid 40s for a high....showers movin in....then steady rain until this evenin. Nice day for the rifle season opener...
It’s right around freezing this morning where it’s supposed to stay all day with no precipitation until evening. The big storm in the Midwest will arrive tonight and we’re looking at 6-8” of heavy wet slop with 14” of fluff a little further inland. I hate slop! I’d rather have 2’ of fluff any day but oh well. Maybe it’ll swing out to sea more and we’ll get all snow. There’s still hope. It’s gonna be nasty either way so stay safe! The kids up here will be going to school in July if this keeps up. This is at least the third storm day. A piece of pine helping to burn down some coals, it’s 76 in here. Burned beech and oak overnight.
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday it was 56 and sunny. Right now it is 33 and snowing sideways.
Weather guessers miss again here. Snow about done and we don't even have 2". It's about what I expected when I put the snow blade on yesterday.
Brrr Rope! We're at 33°F heading all the way up to 38°F today, with a cool down and mixed precipitation starting about 3:45pm, switching over to heavy snow when 2 storms are expected to merge together. Heavy snow over night and tomorrow with 8"-11" expected, up to 15" locally.
Not too bad considering we're getting late into November, and at least if it's cold it's normal. Currently -11 C feels -18 C or 12 F feels 0 F. Super dry poplar in the reactor.
0c/32f here right now under cloudy skies. Fell asleep early last night so no overnight burn. Ill let the furnace take care of things until I get home from work tonight.
Its a nice morning for sure, I am at work now. And have the stove here going. I got it warm enough to crack a window for some fresh air.
Living in the banana belt, are ya? Much as I envy the warmer temps, they make road conditions a nightmare when the wet stuff turns to ice and snow stuff. That's pretty warm for your area though is it not?
Yeah its milder than normal by a bit. I just checked and our normal for this day is highs of -3c/26f and lows of -10c/14f but it can swing pretty good either way. It looks like we will have some warm wet weather the next few with the pacific storm thats hitting Vancouver right now. So far we just have a few lazy flakes falling. Roads are dry and bare.
Started out just another decent day. Had to go to Wisconsin, the roads were good ! But.....the weather took a crap this afternoon and now they are back to square one. Another 3" here. Might even hit the single digits tonight.
