7BA33630-360A-4F05-B3DC-419857440970.jpeg After seeing a thread on here a few weeks ago about log carrying tongs I decided to pull the trigger on a pair. I found a pair of Husquavarna’s for around $75 from SLE Equipment. I love these things! They came in a couple of days ago so I headed out with the intention of trying them on a log or two just to see how they worked. I was impressed enough that I went back after the saw just so I could keep using them. Then it started to rain and ran me out of the woods.

Oh, the number one handiest gizmo? The Zero turn mower!

I'm afraid I have to disagree on the zero turn. I can get by without mowing, but not without firewood.:whistle: Ok, I actually really like a ZTR as well, but those log tongs are such a huge back saver I have to put them number one. Enjoy!

If you like the log tongs now, wait till the wood is covered with ice and snow. You will like them much more then as there is no slipping, can carry two pieces at once and your hands don't get wet.

Got those, they're great, but I would like to try tongs, even if they are twice the price.

I think I know when that was! Seems lots of folks tried them out and then bought shortly after.

For sure they are about worth their weight in gold. We have the Husky version. I see some folks grab the logs on the end but I always grab them in the center of the log. After bucking, just clip onto a log and away you go. If they are small enough logs you can carry one in each hand. Only have one tong? Grab one and pick it up then move it to the other hand and grab another log. It surely does save the back a lot and don't know why but the wood seems to be lighter when using them.

I like the Husky type much better than the grippers as there is much less bending but I'm sure those work good too.

Does Husqvarna make more than one size/model of the tongs? Could you tell me exactly what ones you have?

I believe they make 2 sizes, a 12 inch one and an 8 inch one. They measure at the widest opening between the points. I have 2 of the 12 inch ones.

I bought the 12”. 12” seems plenty big for what I do. I maxed it out on a log and it was all I could carry. Any bigger and I couldn’t have picked it up!
